Chapter three

" Luke?" I nervously ask. I don't know why I do because I know that's him but the shock just makes my head spin. Is this really him? He reached over and pressed a button to stop making the elevator move. We were in between floors 8 and 7. He leaned into me.

" Yes baby it's me" he whispered into my ear

" How? How are you Mr. Reed. Your last names Logan" I say

" Dave wasn't my real dad remember and he never actually adopted me. I looked into my family history and found out who I really was. Luke Reed. I had a terrible accident and I was left on the streets. All I knew was my name, Luke. It took me countless of history and news archives to look through. Also countless therapy sessions to remember. I guess it was such a bad memory, I locked it away" he said moving away from me

" I do love Dave. He raised me but I did love my birth parents and took on their name to continue with their legacy" he said running his hand through his hair. Hearing this made him feel a little bit human

" So how long did you know that I was working here?" I asked

" I don't do the interviews when someone applies here. I have people for that. I was on vacation and maybe it was your second week or so and I see you walking down the hall. You were smiling and saying high to people. You just made the room glow. I remember my heart pounding because you were here in front of me but I could never get you. I thought that I would have to live with this for the rest of my life. Not being able to touch you. When I found out about your money problem. I had to help. You can say whatever you want about that but....."

" Thank you" he smiled at me and pressed the button making the elevator move again. I don't know why I thanked him. I did want to thank Mr. Reed but finding out he was him, did he even deserve the thanks?

" I'm glad that I was able to talk to you again. I hope that your doing well?" I gave him a simple yes. Was this the same guy as before? He's so different and for some reason I can't stop staring him

" That's good. Good luck to you" he said when the elevator door opened. We both were walking outside

" Finally babe your here" I hear from a female. I look towards the direction of the voice and a lady runs up to Luke

" How was your day Candy?"

" It was good I missed you" She said

" Me too" he said before kissing her on the lips. I stood and watched them. This is normal. It shouldn't surprise me that Luke has a girlfriend but why does it hurt?

" Can we help you creep" the girl says to me. I get out if my thoughts. I give a quick no and walked around them. Oh I just wanted to pop her in her mouth but Luke is still my boss and she's his girlfriend. Better safe then sorry. I made it to my car and sat down. I start my car and didn't waste time getting out of the company's parking. I look to see Luke watching me. He was bitting his bottom lip before smirking. I quickly looked away and drive off

I got home to a jumpy Charlie

" Yes I know, I know. Mommy's home" Charlie was in my room and when I put my things down on my desk he came towards me happily

" Good boy" I said

Saturday

I was sitting on my couch watching tv when I got a phone call from Mr. Smith

" Hey Ms. Logan. Are you coming to the Reed Co. fundraiser today?"

" Oh I didn't know there was gonna be one"

" Yes. Mr. Red himself sent out emails yesterday. Did you not receive one?"

" No but it must have went to my spam"
