I was running again, but this time I wasn't running late for class, or running for the track team. I wasn't running towards anything. I was running from something. I was running from someone.
A hand held mine tight. The hand of a stranger. A stranger who climbed in to my room; straight through the window. A stranger who hasn't spoken a word to me. I wasn't sure if I could trust him, but I certainly didn't trust the guns shooting at us either.
To think, hours ago I'd been begging for sleep as the stress of tomorrow's test weighed heavily in my mind. If only the stress of a chemistry test was my biggest woe."Get in." The stranger demanded.
He all but shoved me into the car.
He jumps in the front seat, bullets ricocheted off the exterior."Seatbelt," he demanded before stepping on it.
I rushed to put the belt on. It promised to be a long an eventful night.
"Where are we going?" I asked.
I felt as though I deserved an answer but the stranger who had stolen me away in the middle of the night disagreed.
"No questions," he barked.
He was being completely unreasonable.
I found myself soon clinging for dear life as he jerked the car around.
We were clearly breaking every speeding law in the country."Do you even have a license?" I shouted at him as I smacked my head on the door.
"That's a question, Nora" He spoke in a deep and authoritative voice.
"It's an important question!" I shouted, "wait... how do you even know my name?"
I squinted my eyes at him suspiciously.
"Not now," he pleaded in a much softer voice.
He then did the unthinkable. He turned off the headlights. In the middle of the night! While speeding! This guy obviously had a death wish. He was also going to get one serious fine.
"You're actually trying to kill us, aren't you?" I accused.
"Nora!" He yelled, "let me drive."
I slumped into my seat with a huff. He could at least try to be friendly. He was the one who kidnapped me after all.
I cursed as I smacked my head on the car door again. I was really getting thrown around."Ouch" I whined.
"You okay?" The stranger asked, he's eyes still trained to the road.
"I'm fine," I mumbled.
No blood, no worries, right?
The car slowed down, I decided to peer out the window. We were now off road, I didn't think he's sporty car could handle it. I was proven wrong.
As my bumped and bounced he let out a large sigh.
He stopped the car and leant his head against the steering wheel."Are you okay?" He asks again.
"You just asked me that," I remind him.
"I'm not talking about your head."
"Oh."
There was an awkward silence as I let tonight's events sink in.
"Why did you kidnap me?" I ask him bluntly. I've always been straight to the point.
"K-kidnap you?!" He sputters.
"Well you didn't exactly ask before you threw me into your car and drove off to the middle of nowhere," I informed him, as if he didn't already know.
"I was rescuing you!" He tries to justify. A light pink dusting his face.
Was he embarrassed? Flustered? He was probably flustered. I did just accuse him of kidnapping me; which he did.
