Well, hoere goes yet another chapter. I really like how many reads and comments this story is getting. So, here is anither chappie for all the people that comment on my story and really make my day.
When Cian asked me how much I had heard, I became slightly annoyed at the fact that he seemed to be closing up at me only seconds after practically saving my life.
But I also realized he had indeed saved my life. That, between his whispered confessions and soft caresses, he had managed to bring me back from the brink of death.
But why?
I didn't know. What was going on inside his head? What made him come to see me? Why had he said all those things? Did he mean them?.....
As all those questions swirled through my mind I was still looking at Cian. He was observing me, an impassive look on his face. I considered for a moment to tell him that I had heard every single word he said. But then I decided against it. If he felt so damn uncomfortable with me knowing what he said, then the least I could do was put his mind at ease.
"What... what do you mean?" I asked, my voice still a bit shaky.
Something akin to relief flashed briefly across his features. That little emotion hurt more than it should have, and as I tried to shove down the burning sensation that had tears prickling behind my eyelids, I tried to get up. Cian was still holding me, and the hot water from the shower was still pouring down on us. He got to his feet and pulled me along with him. I tried distancing myself from him, but my body wasn't responding to my commands yet. Feeling weak my legs gave way underneath me, and I would have fallen hadn't it been for Cian catching me.
He had his arms wrapped around me protectively in less time it took me to blink. His hands were on my waist and I was pulled flush against his body as I took another shaky breath, putting my hands on his shoulders to steady myself.
Cian said nothing, but let go of me with one hand to turn off the water stream. Then he slowly opened the glass sliding door and stepped outside, one arm still wrapped protectively around my waist as he helped me outside. I couldn't help but notice how soaking wet we both were. Cian must have been wearing a suit earlier, but taken off the jacked. He was now wearing navy blue dressing pants and a white button down shirt, which both clung to his muscular frame like a second skin due to the water. I must have looked the same, my blouse and leggings uncomfortably clinging to my skin.
I watched in fascination as Cian passed a hand through his hair, scattering droplets about as he reached inside a cabinet on the wall to retrieve two towels. He handed them to me with a frown.
"You should get changed" he muttered, eying me as I took the towels and just stood there, looking at me.
"Well i'm sure as hell not changing with you in here" I said, too tired to put any real emotion in my voice.
"I can't have you passing out on me while you change into some dry clothes" Cian said, a cold edge to his voice.
"And I already told you i'm not stripping with you in the same room" I answered as I clung to the towels, afraid Cian would notice my shaking hands.
"I.am.not.leaving.you.alone" Cian said between clenched teeth, anger flashing briefly in his eyes.
"I.wasn't.asking" I told him, immitating his tone. It was shocking how quickly things always seemed to escalate between the two of us. How rapidly things changed.
We had a stare-down that lasted several minutes, and in which I tried not to give in to my bodies demand of rest. When Cian seemed to realize glaring daggers at me wasn't going to work, his expression suddenly softened.
