Daniel's POV
I can't believe it's been 2 months since the party. Lauren went through a shit load of messy family crap that night and it didn't seem to phase her! She's just a completely different person now...Anyway, at least it's the Christmas holidays for a couple of weeks now, a rest from the hell-hole of school.
I headed off into town to do some Christmas shopping (kind of last minute...) as I still had to get my mum and sister a present. For that I reckon my best shot was a jewellery shop.
It's so hard deciding what to buy... Just as I had finally chosen a bracelet for my mum and pair of earrings got my sister, a necklace in a glass cabinet caught my eye. I looked a bit closer and realised that hanging from the delicate gold chain was a tiny lilac gemstone, and immediately I thought how much Lauren would love it. I wasn't going to get her a present - just a card. But this is perfect for her, so I went back to the shop keeper and asked her to get that one out so I could buy it too. I also asked her to gift wrap it for me as I am present wrapping skills are not exactly good...
My plan was to stop by Lauren's house on the way home. So I pulled up next to her house and walked up to her front door, for some reason I was starting to feel nervous.
I took a deep breath, knocked 3 times on the door and listened intently for the sound of footsteps approaching. Nothing. I waited a bit longer and then knocked again, this time louder. And still nothing. Damn it.Sighing, I walked back down the steps and round to the window and peered inside. God. I probably look like an old creeper right now...
Giving up on the hope of anyone being in the house, I left the present on the doorstep with the card and went home.
Lauren's POV
After squeezing in a bit of last minute shopping, I started my toe-numbingly-cold walk home whilst carrying bags that felt like they were filled with cement.
When I reached the front door, I almost stood on a small lilac parcel with a little card placed on top. The first thought to run through my mind was: What sort of an idiot would leave this on the doorstep in plain sight where it could get stolen? And my second thought was: Why the hell didn't they just put it through the letterbox? People these days...
My curiosity getting the better of me, I leaned down to get a closer look and realised the name of the front was mine. I picked up the tiny parcel and went inside, dragging all my bags with me.
The card read:
Dear Lauren,
Happy Chrsitmas!! Have a good break, and see you back at school in a couple of weeks.
From Daniel :)
Simple and to the point. Sounds like Daniel. It was sweet of him to get me a card... And a present! I haven't got him anything...
I picked up the gift again, this time to open it and gently pulled the paper away from the Sellotape. I peeled back the folds of paper and inside, sat a small gold chain with a pretty, lilac gemstone hanging from it. A smile found it's way to my lips as I placed the necklace around my neck and did up the clasp. It's beautiful. I can't believe Daniel bought this for me!
I grabbed my phone and quickly found the string of texts between me and Dan and started typing a new message to him.
- Hey Dan, thank you soooo much for the gorgeous necklace!!! I love it. You know me so well! Thank you. :) -
Daniel's POV
BEEP BEEP.
I glanced over at my phone as I heard the text tone go off and unlocked my phone to a message from Lauren.
- Hey Dan, thank you soooo much for the gorgeous necklace!!! I love it. You know me so well! Thank you. :) -
Knew she'd like it. I smirked and chucked my phone back onto the bed. Who knows...? Maybe we can still work it out.
:-:-: Long wait... Sorry guys! I was on holiday for a couple of weeks in France and Belgium and rarely had wifi... I have also experienced a bad case of writers block. But I'm back now!
This is more of a filler chapter really, but I will try to upload again soon. I'm going away again in a couple of days for two weeks, but I'll have wifi so all will be ok!! I'm thinking a bit of hot weather and beaches will do my inspiration some good... 😄
What are you guys doing this summer??
Jules xoxo :-:-:
