Chapter 38. The Past

"What?" Michael growled as soon as he heard about his child being in danger. His hand went to Hazel's stomach in instinct and he held it protectively.

"It started with my father. She showed me the scene when he died," She sobbed.

"What had happened?" Michael asked and Hazel looked at him confused before she realized that she hadn't told him her past yet. Guess there's a certain time for everything.

"My father died when I was seven," Hazel sniffed and saw his eyes fill with remorse. He squeezed her hand and gave her an encouraging look. Hazel sighed.

"The Alpha-" She cringed. "Would pass comments on my mom. Saying how sexy she looked, or how kissable her lips looked. He even tried to touch her in private places. She could not report it to anyone because he was the Alpha and Alphas are bad news," She chuckled and he chuckled too. "Anyways, Dad was from the Air Pack. When he got to know about this, he was furious. He threatened to tell the other Alphas about him. My Dad didn't belong to Alpha bloodline or Beta bloodline or even Gamma or Warrior bloodline, neither did my mom, so the Alpha threw us out. We went to live in the human world. We bought an apartment in a building. I remember it was cream colored and had a crappy valet system," Hazel sniffed. "Dad continued with his plans to take down the Alpha. He felt like he needed to work for all the women in the Pack. He told the other Alphas, somehow. I don't remember, I was really young at the time," She glared the ground.

"What did the Alpha do about it?" Michael asked cautiously.

"H-He burned the building," She choked but she knew she had to tell him about this. She had made it this far. Michael gripped her hand tightened when it started to shake. He knew that she was about to cry and he wanted to be there for her.

"We made it out. My mum, me and Williams. He risked his life for us. He was a good father," She nodded at him and wiped her tears away.

"He was a good hero," Michael whispered and kissed her forehead. "What happened afterwards?"

"We...made it to the Air Pack. We couldn't live there for long. The Alpha had sent out a search party for us and we were forced to go back to the Water Pack after we had been found," She took a breath and sighed. "Things became much worse than that."

"What do you mean?" Michael asked. He picked Hazel up and plopped her on his lap. He was drawing small circles on her back and traced his free hand up and down her arm.

"The news had already spread. The Alpha spread a rumor saying that we were thinking of sabotaging the Pack and attacking it and people looked at us with disgust and hatred. They would move away from us, as if we were some sort of virus or something. We were made the Omegas of the Pack. My mom served the Pack for years before he removed our rank and we were free. But, the thought of losing my father because of him still made me hate him. I still do and I'm happy that you killed him. I'm happy he died," She gave him a satisfied look and smiled.

Michael was proud of her so he kissed her on the forehead again and Hazel smiled wider.

"I saw our daughter," Hazel started again, telling him about the dream.

"Who?" Michael asked, really shocked.

"Our daughter," Hazel confirmed and Michael's eyes immediately went to her stomach. He's going to have a daughter. She's going to be a daddy's girl for sure.

"She had chestnut brown hair. And she looked more like me than like you," Hazel said and giggled.

"I don't mind," Michael said. Whoever she looked like, she was still going to be her daughter and he would love her.

"She was standing in front of me. Her hazel eyes were so blank, like they were boring holes in my soul. There was a couple standing behind her. The man had his hand on her shoulder while the woman was clinging to him."

"Did you see their faces?" Michael asked eagerly.

"No."

"Did you recognize the place?"

"No. We were in a white room."

"Did you recognize their figures?"

"You can tell them apart through that?" Hazel gasped and Michael groaned. Suddenly, Hazel felt useless. She should have paid more attention to the people, rather than the Goddess.

"What else did the Moon Goddess say?"

"She said that if I'm good, our daughter won't have to see this day. I mean, the day she's kidnapped, I think."

"Better? What do you mean better?" He asked and Hazel shrugged.

"Did you ask her?" He asked and Hazel nodded.

"She faded and the whole dream ended after that," She confessed and Michael sighed. She looked at him properly and tension was evident on his face. Hazel felt like Mr. Kevin Porter from thirteen reasons why, when Hannah came up to him with her problems and he let her go, regretting letting her go in the first place afterwards.

"I'll ask to increase the border patrol first thing in the morning. All the Pack members will have to train. We'll need the Water's Pack help, too. I'll ask Dylan and explain the situation to him," Hazel nodded. "Don't worry, my love, nothing will happen to our child," He kissed her lightly.

"Let's sleep," He said and laid her down gently. She cocooned herself in his embrace but sleep didn't seem to shut her eyes after that.
