THE DUE DATE-------- HER BIRTH
"I can't do this anymore Terrence; It is so painful," Gabby said in tears.
"You can, Gabby. You are the strongest woman I know. I can see her head. Just a few more pushes and you will be holding her in your arms." Terrence encouraged.
It kills Terrence to see Gabby in so much pain with him unable to do anything rather than standing there and holding her hand, whispering encouraging words into her ear.
God bless all our Mothers!
And Yes, Sophie was right all along. They later found out they would be having a girl and Sophie was very thrilled. She insisted that she wants the baby to share her room with her but Terrence and Gabby refused.
They decided the baby will stay in their room for the first few weeks of its birth and will be transferred to the nursery later on. Then maybe when the baby clocks one, she can now share a room with Sophie.
Sophie was grumpy at first but later agreed to the plan as she was given the privilege to choose the theme color for her younger sister's room.
Gabby gave the last push with all the strength she had in her. Lo and behold, the loud sound of a crying baby filled the room.
Gabriela exhaled as she rested her head against the pillow.
"You did it, my love, I'm so proud of you," Terrence said with tears in his eyes as he kissed her forehead.
A blanket was placed on Gabby's chest after which a nurse placed the newborn baby on her mother's chest and covered her with another blanket.
The little cutie stopped crying immediately her head touched her mother's chest and Gabby could not help but smile at that. Her baby girl was so perfect.
Terrence was called to cut the cord which he proudly did. Before he went over to Gabby and joined her in admiring the little one on her chest.
"She's so beautiful," Terrence whispered. The little angel opened her eyes; It was as if she recognized her Father's voice. He never failed to sing to her every night while she was still in her mommy's belly.
"She has your eyes." Gabby smiled weakly.
"Yes, she does" Terrence replied as he softly touched her curly hair which she seemed to have inherited from her mother.
The baby was taken away from them as she was being checked and cleaned. Terrence had the privilege of helping out while the nurses cleaned up baby Serena.
Yeah, that's her name. Serena Amie Tennon. Born July 5, 2018. 5:28 AM. She was named after Sophie's biological mother.
Gabriela was transferred to the recovery ward after she was cleaned up and she instantly took a nap to regain her lost energy.
She woke up two hours later with Terrence by her side.
"Where's Serena?" She asked.
"She should be here soon." He assured and not quite long Debbie entered with the bundle of joy in her arms.
"She's so pretty." Debbie cooed as she walked in with her attention on baby Serena who kept on staring at Debbie's face.
"You have done so well, Gabby. We are super proud of you." Debbie smiled warmly at her and Gabby smiled back too as she muttered a small thank you.
"It's time to feed her" Debbie gently handed Serena to Gabby. She assisted Gabby in adjusting her gown.
"Don't worry, simply place your nipple at the entrance of her mouth, She will figure her way around it" Debbie assured and Gabby did just that. Baby Serena latched on immediately and Gabby heaved a sigh of relief.
"You are officially welcome to motherhood." Debbie grinned and they all laughed.
After Gabby fed and burped Serena, It was already visiting hours and the whole family bombarded the room with lots of gifts for the newborn. The whole family including Nikki, Ian, Gabby's parents, Terrence's mom and her husband, Debbie and her husband, Isabelle, Olivia's mom, and Sophie.
"Why are you crying, Sophie? Aren't you happy to see Serena?" Nikki asked as all eyes went to Sophie who had baby Serena in her arms as Terrence supported her in carrying the baby.
"I'm excited to meet her. She's just so beautiful, so precious and so small." Sophie said in tears.
Everyone in the room smiled sweetly.
........................................
11 MONTHS LATER
Gabby felt someone placing tiny kisses on her cheeks. She groaned. "Stop it, Terrence, I want to sleep more." Her response was followed by a giggle which caused her to open her eyes and she found Sophie grinning at her.
"Happy Mothers Day, Mommy," Sophie kissed Gabby on her cheek.
"Aww Thank you so much, my love," Gabby said then kissed Sophie's forehead.
"I made this for you," Sophie handed a card to Gabby.
Gabby smiled. She collected the card, opened it, and saw the words written in Sophie's handwriting. She read the content.
"I'm so happy to have a beautiful mommy like you. Thank you for being my mommy; Thank you for giving me a baby sister. Thank you for being a good wife to Daddy and thank you for being you. I love you forever and always. Sophia."
"Thank you, my love. I will forever cherish this." Gabby said as she held back tears and engulfed Sophie in a warm hug.
They both pulled away when Terrence opened the door with Serena in one hand and a tray of Gabby's favorite breakfast in the other hand.
"Mama." Serena giggled as soon as she saw her mom. Terrence placed her on the bed and she crawled towards Gabby.
Serena would be one year old in a month. She had already said her first word which was Sophie's name. She learned how to say 'so-fee' before she learned mama, then dada. Of course, Sophie got emotional when Serena said her name as her first word.
Serena took her first step during Terrence's birthday last month. It was something their family and friends witnessed with them. Gabby also bears Mrs. Tennon now. She and Terrence had their wedding three months after Serena's birth.
"How's my baby doing?" Gabby asked as she showered kisses on Serena's face which erupted a loud giggle from her.
"Happy Mothers Day, my love."Terrence gave Gabby a long passionate kiss. Sophia giggled while Serena started saying baby words as she jammed her tiny hands together. It was as if she understood what was going on.
