Hordes of individuals passed by within the confines of the food court. Evie ate a delicious succulent burger that yearned to be devoured.
He approached in his royal toned rufflely Victorian gown.
"May I sit with you, Miss?" His blond wig shaded his eyes. For a guy whose voice is deeper than the ocean, he's certainly sounded like a beautiful lady.Raising her eyebrows, " Why are you dressed like that you look ridiculous?" Evie compared their outfits. She liked her outfits and hair tone to match her favorite coffee flavor. BLACK!
"Well I am just a fabulously dressed man with a good sense of fashion. Also it's called Cosplay!" Dustin quipped. The most popular boy in school plays dress up when he wasn't on the clock of being Prom King?
" Is this why you asked me out? To come out that you are still a child?" Unamused by his boldness.
The passerbys stared. It made the mood uncomfortable. Evie' s anxiety increase rapidly.
He took notice of her heavy panting." Evie, I know you don't have any friends, I'm even surprised you agreed to this date, but I just wanted to show you I'm insecure too. I dress up like fictional characters to express my true self." Dustin grabbed her hand and reassured her.
Returning to earth she bellowed." I always knew you were a wierd since we were kids."
He adjusted his wig and smirked awkwardly. " Well my last girlfriend thought I was strange dressing up like a woman too. I will disregard all insults if you answer one thing. Can you guess what character I am?" He quizzed.
Here was the moment of truth. He asked her out because she was internally a nerd like him. Neither would admit it to society, except at the mall when one of
F them was incognito." Obviously you are Saber from the FATE series." She snarled.
Happy as can be, Dustin's face melted with joy.
" So that's why you chose me." Evie concluded." You knew secretly I shared your hobby. That I watch anime."
For a reward he waltzed over and cradled her in his arms.
" What in seven hells are you doing?" Evie's pale flushed a rosy color.
He planted a kiss on her cheek. " I definitely look forward to converting you to become a cosplayer."
A few familiar faces from school wondered the crowd, Dustin recognized them almost immediately as did Evie. He pushed away immediately.
"EVIE! You can't tell anyone about this okay." Changing his tone.
Evie stopped. It was like he was embarrassed of himself when he expelled radiated confidence minutes ago. She drew the pieces together.
" Your leading a double life. You are a popular boy. Of course heaven forbid your friends find out you cosplay. That's why you asked me out" Disappointment sank in she walked away from him.
Before he could explain she was nowhere in sight.
Dustin regretted his choice. His heart ached from Evie's departure.
He would try again tomorrow with Evie.
