Sorry it's so late!

I think the chapter is a bit longer, though, so hopefully that will make up for it. Hopefully :)

Enjoy!

Chapter Sixteen

“You want me to be a part of it?” Cassie felt her eyebrows rise in surprise as she sat in Dumbledore’s office a year later. Remus sat next to her, along with Shelby. All three had similar expressions.

“Yes, I do, very much so. You along with the other Angels would prove to be extremely useful in the fight against Voldemort.” Dumbledore answered. Cassie shuddered. Hearing his name out in the world again was frightening. Since he had returned, neither Cassie nor the other Angels had seen any Death Eaters going after them, but it was only a matter of time. Cassie guessed that the only reason Voldemort had disregarded them for the time being was that his goal to kill Harry was higher up on the list. That, however, was not anymore comforting.

“Are you sure this is a good idea? Last time the Order was around, a lot of people died or were attacked by Death Eaters in an attempt to find information. Do we really want that to start up again?” Remus asked Dumbledore, the cogs in his head already spinning.

The environment in their house had changed completely since they found out about Cedric Diggory’s death and Voldemort’s return. Remus had flipped back on that switch in his brain that made everything he did involve protecting those around him. It was sweet, but he became very serious. He barely let Callie and Alex out of the house when they got back from their term at Hogwarts.

August had become the same way, only he masked it better. He still cracked jokes and made inappropriate comments at the worst times, but when it came time, he stepped up. Adeline did the best she could to ignore it. Cassie knew the thought of him being back scared her, and Adeline didn’t like to show fear. None of the Angels did; fear was a weakness. Not showing their enemies their weaknesses was a survival skill that Jasper had taught them a long time ago.

Surprisingly, Mae had become much more serious. Maybe it was because she had become a mother since the last time Voldemort was around. Whatever the reason, Mae never left little Roselyn’s side. She had turned one a few weeks before. While Jasper went to work every day, Mae stayed home with Roselyn, trapped in the house that was a few blocks away from where Cassie now lived with Remus. She never went anywhere else.

Shelby and Cassie did the best they could to keep the environment relatively normal. They knew Voldemort was back, but he hadn’t shown his face yet. That still gave them some time. But even Alex and Callie had started to act strangely. They stayed in their room for the majority of the day, whispering about things and falling silent when Cassie went in to see them.

“I’m willing to risk it,” Dumbledore replied, after consideration, “We need this support structure, Mr. Lupin. Voldemort is going to be building an army, and we need to be ready to defend ourselves when he attacks. Re-opening the Order of the Phoenix is the best way for us to do this.”

Remus nodded, falling silent as he retreated into his head in thought. Shelby swallowed, glancing at Cassie before she spoke, “Where would we meet? For meetings, I mean. It would have to be somewhere secret, if we want to keep this quiet.”

“Ah, I knew you would ask that.” Dumbledore smiled behind his beard, “Your husband, actually, has offered us his childhood home to use as our headquarters. Very kind of him to do so, too. As I understand it, he does not have the fondest of memories in that house.”
