Chapter 1 - The Average Man

*beep beep*

That annoying alarm clock sets of, alerting me that it's time to get up and out of bed and face the average day. It's just the same old story everyday;

Get up, get out of bed, brush my teeth, shower, get dressed and get a cab to work and then from there I go do my job and return home. It's pretty annoying sometimes and of course I do have friends but they're busy with they're own lives whether it be work life, personal life or basically their spare time but luckily we still keep in touch even if it's only for a few minutes.

Speaking about friends, I've gotta meet up with Dylan tonight. He promised we'd meet up and hang out a bit. Luckily we're not like those good for nothing teens who just like getting wasted on either cigarettes, alcohol or drugs as the case may be sometimes.

Well enough thinking about myself, I've gotta get to work before my boss becomes enraged and starts yelling at me and venting out his anger on me. I know he hates me but what can I do? I need this job in order to get the funds to further my studies so that I can improve my chances of getting a better job, so the way I see it, this job is just a stepping stone for me until better can be done and if dealing with my boss's rage is what I've got to do to get this money then I'll do it because at the end of the day, I'm doing something to improve my life although sometimes the verbal abuse I receive just makes me want to quit but this is the best job I can find thus far so I guess I've got to stick with it.

I finally get out of bed, brush my teeth, shower and then have a quick breakfast of toast, bacon and eggs and then I head outside where I take the first available cab to that hell hole I call work. Luckily I was able to quickly get a cab and arrived at my job shortly.

I then get inside the building and take the elevator to the top floor but before I can make it to my desk I was stopped by my boss.

"Good morning Mr. Bowen" I said.

"What is so good about this morning huh?" He replied.

'So much for manners' I thought.

"You're two minutes late! He yelled as usual.

"I know and I'm sorry" I said just to satisfy his ego.

"There's no room for apologies in a business the next time try and get here earlier" he said with disgust.

"I will" I said as he walked away.

'It was just two minutes.... Geez. Sure I know being punctual is important but seriously it was two minutes, it's not like we could've lost a lot of customers in those two minutes. Being a receptionist sucks sometimes. I know this was my childhood dream but now I've grown up and my priorities and my life goals have slightly changed. I'm trying to go higher and higher because the truth of the matter is, the higher people see you, the more respect you gain and that's why I won't stop until I have my own business, then potentially marry the man of my dreams.... that's if I can find him because seriously all these guys are either unemployed, arrogant or married. I know I'm gay and I don't like being judgemental but most of the guys in the gay community are jerks which is why I'm single but I'm doing perfectly fine on my own and I intend to keep it that way.

I then proceeded to my desk where I would sit eight, long hours just answering calls and providing information while making coffee for my boss who is a complete asshole and not to mention sometimes he sends me on unnecessary errands. I hate everyone here actually even though I haven't spoken to everyone, some of these guys are just jerks without manners. They just look at me as a low class, receptionist. That's all I am in their eyes. Apparently they don't look at everyone like humans but rather judge them on what job they do and what position they possess.

This basically sums up my life,

Just another day of the average man.
