Chapter 13 - Winning A Bet

Andrew P.O.V

"What did you just say?" She asked.

"I.....I'm gay" I said with fear of what she was going to do or say but to my surprise she let out a boisterous laugh as I looked at her with confusion.

"W..... what's the matter?" I asked

"Yes, Yes, Yes I knew it I just knew it" She said with such excitement.

"Wait? Knew what?" I asked in a confused tone.

"Oh I knew that you were gay from the moment I first saw you and now Carter owes me ten bucks" she said as she looked at me with a huge smile.

Oh thank god she's not homophobic. I thought to myself but I had a few questions.

"Wait a second! So you guys betted on my sexual orientation?" I asked with a raised eyebrow.

"We did. I really hope you aren't offended. It was all in good fun and besides we make silly and ridiculous bets all the time" she said and I really didn't see what the harm was on betting on my sexual orientation although the question still remains as to how she knew I was gay.

"Haha it's ok but mind if I ask you a question? I asked.

"Of course you can, ask away" she assured.

"So how did you know I was family?" I asked.

"Oh jeez, I don't know how to explain it really but let's just say it's a mother's intuition because my son is also family" she explained.

"And how do you know the term "family" Ms. Kaitlyn?" I asked with a smile.

"Look Andrew when you come from a family like mine and you have a few family members that are gay, you tend to learn a few terminologies as to not be disrespectful" she said with a smile.

"Oh ok cool and let me guess Mr. Carter thinks I'm straight?" I asked.

"Nope. He guessed that you were bisexual" she stated.

" So why don't you guys think I'm straight? Is it the way I look or sound perhaps?" I asked.

"Andrew as I've said, it's a mother's intuition and to be honest Carter just made a random guess.
You're a normal human being just like everyone else in this world and you shouldn't let your sexual orientation make you feel differently. Besides some people can just tell if you are gay or not and my intuition told me as such which is why when I said the term "family" you confirmed it for me. And I know I've could've been wrong and there was a possibility where you were either straight or even bisexual but for some reason my instincts told me and again I do have older kids than you and I come from a huge supportive family so I have some experience with this" she explained.

"You're right and besides you've been around a lot of people as you've explained so it's only fair you would have insight on such things" I explained.

" Indeed but truth be told the real reason I guessed you were gay was because as I've said before my son is gay and you seem to be a lot like him and I know with The LGBT community there are a lot of different personalities but you remind me of my son" she said with a broad smile on her face.

"Thank you" I responded.

"You're welcome and I'm sorry again if we offended you" she said.

"It's ok. You didn't offend me" I reassured her as she smiled back at me.

"Hey Andrew" she called out before I had the chance to walk away.

"Yes Ms. Kaitlyn?" I asked.

"How would you feel about going out on a date with my son?" She asked.

"What!!!!? Excuse me?" I asked just to make sure I was hearing her correctly.

"Would you like to go out on a date with my son? He's a really sweet guy and I think you'd like him a lot" she stated.

"Well I'm not really much of the dating type" I explained.

"I understand but would you please give it some thought? I want my son to be able to get a good husband one day. Who knows it may even be you and even if it doesn't work out you guys can always be friends" she said as she smiled at me with hope in her eyes.

"Seriously? I'm only eighteen and how in the heck did we go from dating to marriage haha. Your a pretty far fetched woman Ms. Kaitlyn" I said as we both laughed.

"I can't help myself. I just want my kids to have good spouses" she explained.

"And what mother wouldn't, So I can see your point" I said.

"Good. So will you go out with my son? Please......." She begged.

"Um.. I'll think about it ok" I said as she smiled at me.

"Ok, ok by the way, here are some of his pictures" she said as she showed them from her phone.

"Wow! He's hot" I stated.

"And from what I've heard he's great in bed too" she said as I looked at her surprised.

"Oh my God! Ms. Kaitlyn, I can't believe you just said that" I said to her.

"Well it's only what I've heard and besides I'm sure you're good in bed as well" she said looking at me as I turned bright red.

"Oh my God!!! You're a virgin. I'm so so sorry" she apologized.

"I.... It's ok. Besides I don't even like dating so what gave you the impression that I've already had sex!?" I asked.

"I honestly don't know but I thought you weren't a virgin because teens in this day and age begin having sex earlier and I guess I judged you wrongfully again, I'm sorry" she apologized once more.

"It's ok" I said as smiled at me and then escorted me to my newly assigned desk before she bid me farewell.

This is only my first day here and I feel as though I've been working here for years. I feel like part of their working family because Mr. Carter is such a sweet guy and he has so much confidence in me that I don't want to disappoint. And Kaitlyn what can I say, she's crazy and fun and even though I don't know her well enough yet I already love her. I can see and envision her as a maternal figure. It seems as though she cares a lot about her son because she is trying to find a good spouse for him but I doubt that it'll be me because I'm quite young and I have my whole life ahead of me. Don't get me wrong sure her son is young too and he's quite handsome but I'm not going to throw my education away for him or anyone. And there's nothing wrong with having a boyfriend while you further your studies but in my general opinion if I were to have a boyfriend at this crucial point in my life then it'll just be a setback for me. So right now until I finish my studies I'm really not interested in dating.

I just came out of my stream of thoughts when I saw Carter approaching my desk.

I wonder what's going to be his first request of me?
