She leaned in, not me. Her lips were so soft, like I knew they'd be. Everything was perfect. It's like I was made for this moment to happen. Her hand cupped my jaw. Her waist was pulled again mine, pushing me against the wall. They looked at each other, smiled, then repeated the same process.The taste of her mouth was warm and sweet. It reminded her of the happy feeling. The one where all the gray went away. The one that she got when her brother and father were still around. Like everything was okay. No worries or issues. Like it was perfect.
But soon enough, it was getting dark. Halsey lit the bonfire. The younger girl was freezing even though it was mid-July, near her birthday. The two girls shared a blanket. They sat peacefully staring at each other under the stars. The stars. Oh, how beautiful. Every single one looked so different, yet they were so similar. She could find the constellations and name the planets. It was so amazing how they all know where to go when the Sun falls to the ground and releases the darkness.
Melanie touched the other girls hand. Halsey nodded in agreement and they locked fingers. Halsey leaned on the Blue Girl, and she got that feeling again. The one that makes her blush and makes all her bad thoughts go away. She was in love. It was perfect. Was perfect.
