Chapter 9 Testing Attributes

After eating it was around noon. YiMin lit the lamp with oil while the pit was still lit, hanging it outside the house. She then took out the attribute stone, she was trying her hardest to hold in her anticipation. “Brother, was I ever tested?” YiMin was interested because she didn’t have very many memories from to original. From the originals memories she knew they were abandoned here when she was two but before that a lot of things were blurry.

YiHan puts his hand on his chin thinking about it “No you weren’t. I was tested when I was two but after dad died and grandfather left the family, they started to treat us different.” YiHan stares off into space with sad eyes. “They first started by taking away our servants, after that the cooks began to bring us less food. Their was also no way for us to buy things because our household didn’t receive any funds... After a while one of our uncle’s wives then said that it was odd for just us three to live in a big home so they forced us to move here.”

Noticing his change YiMin could also vaguely make out these events. The Zhous shunned them as soon as their father died, in YiMins opinion these people were already blacklisted.

The only one who isn’t was their grandfather. Although he never helped them it was because he had been mourning his son since his death, he had left to the Maui Forest to grieve and still hasn’t returned.

YiMin could vaguely remember his strong posture, unyielding eyes, bad temperament, and his loud voice. The original was terrified when she had seen him, but to the YiMin now all she found was interest in this ‘grandfather’.

YiHan then dropped the bomb that had weighed on his heart, “I think they probably didn’t help us because my attribute was a weak earth.” YiHan’s eyes water as he thinks of their mother. When YiHan was tested at age two everyone had high expectations for him as the first young master of the Zhou household, he had been raised and taught to be the next head after his father. But reality proved cruel to the child, when tested he had a very low connection to the earth attribute. After their father died YiHan had no one to rely on and was bullied daily.

Seeing YiHan like this YiMin walks over to him and wraps her arms around his waist, “Hey, you shouldn’t think this way. If you want to blame someone blame our Uncle, he’s the one that drove us here. And even though we have a grandfather where was he when mom died! Our lives could have been changed greatly if we received any help but none did but our Big Brother. You did all you could do with what we had, now you just need to focus on getting stronger!” YiMin rub his back telling him this. He is way too young to have this kind of shadow on his heart.

YiHan’s watery eyes stare at her before he wraps her tightly in his arms. “Then I’ll do what Min-Min says, Min-Mins always right.” Through everything YiMin hasn’t abandoned him so YiHan swore that he would get stronger for his sister!

After calming YiHan down YiMin pulls out the stone and hands it to YiHan demanding, “Let me see.” As they both stare at each other, YiHan stares into YiMin’s eyes looking venerable as she offered him the stone. YiMin was curious if he was truly weak or not, especially when he was chosen to bonded with a beast. Starring at the stone he takes a deep breath before grabbing it and pushing his Force into it.

The stone, like it was given life, immediately brightened into a light brown luster. YiMin was amazed at how the stone brightened with his Force. YiMin knew that from that color YiHan had a very low connection with the Earth attribute. Not giving up she leaning forward and noticed a small movement. Within the light there were dark black tiny whisks floating around.  After examining it she realized that YiHan had a double attribute! Although his second attributes was minimal compared to his Earth attribute, the specks of black were more denser in pigment.
