Hi wattpaders and fans!! Before I actually start this story, I want to give a little background to what's going to happen. A character is going to have an eating disorder(I'm not sure if that is a spoiler or not), anyway onto the facts!

8 million Americans suffer from an eating disorder. Seven million women and one million men. 10% of people who have anorexia or bulimia are male and 90% are females. This usually starts in the teen years and can progress later on if not treated.

*About Bulimia Nervosa

Usually how an eating disorder starts is with a quest to lose weight. The person also may have low self-esteem or can be very conscious about their weight/appearance. A person with bulimia eats a high amount of food than what a average person would eat in one sitting. Calories: 200-10,000. The food will usually be anything they can get their hands on. They often lose control and can't stop. After their "binge", they realize what they have done and a horrible feeling sets in their stomach. They have to get rid of the fat and extra calories! So they purge(vomit) or use laxatives(usually many at a time) or exercise excessively. If they decide it's a really bad binge, they will fast to make up for it. It can vary from days to weeks.

*Dangers/Warning Signs

You can't really tell if somebody has bulimia by just looking at them. They can be underweight to overweight. But here are some telltale signs:

•After eating, excusing oneself to the bathroom

•If bingeing, lack of control and eating huge amounts(often done in secret).

•Bruised knuckles from self-induced vomiting

•Depression

•Overusing laxatives or other medications

•Excessive exercise or always seems to be exercising

•Red eyes and puffy cheeks after purging

•Weight-conscious and low self-esteem

•Also, bingeing and/or purging for at least 2 times a week for 3 months

*If you suspect a friend may have or has Bulimia:

IT'S VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU SUPPORT YOUR FRIEND!! Often, the person with bulimia feels alone and like nobody cares. However, you can change that.

There are dozens of ways to help.

*Learn about eating disorders.*

It might give you some perspective.

*Avoid judging your friend.*

Don't jump to conclusions. Carefully talk to them and show that you have concern or are worried.

*Do not place guilt on your friend.*

Do not blame your friend saying its their fault. They will push you away and sink farther into isolation.

*Recognize you can't change your friends mind*

No matter how many times you convince your friend they are skinny, they will always see themselves as fat.

*Don't talk about food and body size.* It may be hard but that may not be the best thing to talk about.

*Help them towards recovery.* You have to remember its going to be a long and hard process but be there for your friend and encourage them to get better. Let them know you care!

That's the...prologue(I think). Is it good so far? Bad? The actual chapters should be coming up soon so look out for it! Love you guys and as always:
