They left me there for the rest of the day. My only source of food was whatever they placed on the silver tray they slid under the door. As I ate I could still feel a slight burn from that orange liquid- it wasn't bad but I knew it was there. I finished my "meal" and, unsure of what to do, decided just to go to sleep. As I went to lay down, the door slammed open for the first time in hours, and a kid smaller then I was thrown in. He was crying as the man who threw him in, slammed the door once more. "Meet your new roommate", the man laughed viciously from outside.
The kid jumped at the sound of his voice. I didn't want to scare him even more then he already was, so I moved toward him slowly. Eventually he saw me he jumped once more, crawled away.
"Hey", I said as softly as I could. "It's ok... I'm not gonna hurt you. My name is Elliot. What is yours?"
"I'm Alex" he said, barely above a whisper. I smiled.
"Do you know why you're here, Alex" I asked. He sniffled and looked up at me.
"My parents sent me because I have hemophilia and the man said he could fix me. What about you?"
"I faint when my adrenalin gets too high... just like yours, my parents believed the man when said he could fix me", I told him. He solemnly. I studied him.He seemed way too young to be in here. "How old are you?" I asked him curiously.
"I'm 5 years old," he said. I was horrified they would take someone so young. I looked at him again.
"Hey Alex," I started. "Can you promise me something?"
"Ok," he agreed I took a deep breath.
"Whatever happens here, stay with me. If something happens to me, run away. You have to run, Alex. Okay?"
He put out his pinky and I linked it with mine. He squeezed my pinky and smiled. "I promise"
