The Smile

II- The team

The red and square clock in the hallway indicated ten. Noises were louder in the morning. More patients to take in charge, more paperworks to organize, more and more trays to prepare. Ryder was enjoying the very first moments of what she wanted the most. She had studied hard for this. And, she wasn't the only one.

Dr Hedstater enters in. Her face is the evidence of a good mood, noticed by Ryder :

"What's happening ?

- Dr Darcy wants to introduce the project to us.

- Ah yes.."

She was informed of it. It was for this particular reason she decided to work here. One month ago, Ryder had received a message, offering jobs to recently graduated students in dentistry. The long email presented a project : to propose dental cares in the city, more than the two offices already known. Such a service was in great demand. And, since the hospital didn't had a dental department, the director suggested the creation of it. The opportunity was taken when a first one moved in and decided to be responsible of this group. Dr Hedstater and Ryder were the second and third to be recruited.

"..a nice mood.

- I get that. Even if schedules are busy, I feel really happy to be part of this.

- We should go now."

They head to a small meeting room. Standing next to a blackboard, arms crossed and blue blouse worn, Dr Elizabeth Darcy was prepared. She gives them an amiable smile. They sit in front of her. Although chairs had been placed in a large circle, it was obvious they were waiting for others.

Finally, three ladies come in. They were wearing blue blouses as well. Seeing them, Dr Elizabeth Darcy clears her throat before starting :

" Good morning to all of you. You've guessed it. I decided to introduce one to another and especially, to introduce you to this project.."

A small brunette interrupts. She enters in, rearranging her outfit. She wasn't wearing a blouse.

"Hello Elizabeth. So.. They are all here.

- Yes."

The lady displays a large smile at the group before introducing herself :

"I am Madam Eldestein, the director of this hospital. And I am guessing, Eliza.. Dr Darcy is presenting the project..

- I was just about to say that..

- .. Please do so.

- You were all hired for your skills, techniques, abilities, but mostly because you are passionate about your work. Here, we care about it. We pay attention to passionate people, who offers more than a strong capacity to work. As some of you may know, I decided, with the help of Madam Eldestein, to create this odontology department, to provide the best cares in the city. Without any further things to mention.. Please introduce yourselves. Dr Ryder, you'll go first."

Ryder is surprised to be call first, she wasn't expecting this and wasn't prepared. She stands up, smiling at Gal. Of course, she couldn't risk another shy glance at her superior after what happened this morning. Not to mention Dr Darcy was intimidating to her. She was already lost in her thoughts before starting :

" Hi everyone, I am Dr Ryder, Alex.. I came from Minneapolis, in the united states of America.. Wait that's obvious. Sorry. And I..I.. don't know what to say.."

The others giggles. Gal applauses.

"It's fine already. You did great, Madam Eldestein jokes alongside Elizabeth who was trying hardly not to laugh.
