The fire crackled filling in the silence between our conversations. It was our second wedding anniversary. Today was the anniversary of one of the happiest days of my life. The kids were at Aunt Nancy's so it was just Keegan and I. We were snuggling on the couch, drinking the chardonnay, reminiscing on the year we fell in love.

"I can't believe you fell in love with me after all I put you through." Keegan whispered in my ear, planting a kiss on my temple.

I giggled slightly," You are kind of hard to resit." I reached up and smoothed his hair back, smiling lovingly at him.

"Do you remember the party that night that you tried to make me jealous?" He smirked down at me.

"Don't act like it didn't work." I winked at him.

We both started laughing, remembering the night that we both realized that we needed each other. As we sat there, I stared thinking about how wonderful these past few years had been. From our wedding in Fiji, to the birth of our beautiful first child ,Ella, my life has been a living fairy tale.

" What are you thinking about, love?" Keegan hummed against me.

I smiled up at him, "Us." He smiled back.

We both fell into another comfortable silence, enjoying each others company. Suddenly, my phone started ringing from the kitchen.

Rolling my eyes, I got up to go answer it. Keegan, obviously annoyed, groaned in frustration.

"Just ignore it." He tried to convince me,pulling on my arm.

"It might be about the kids." I said starting to worry. Keegan finally let go and I rushed into the kitchen.

I picked up my phone, bringing it to my ear.

"Hello?"

"Yes, is this Rowen Smith."

"Actually it's Rowen Parker now, but yes. May i ask who is calling?" I responded a little curious.

"It's the Los Angeles Police Department. We're calling concerning about your father's death."

My world stopped. My mouth went dry and I tried to lick my suddenly dry lips. What could she possibly mean?

"Last time i checked my father's death wasn't an open case." I replied dumbfounded.

"Yes ma'am, but it was recently opened due to a murder that occurred a few days ago."

Keegan walked in holding our wine glasses. He gave me a questioning look. Once he saw my face, it turned into worry. I shook my head.

"A murder?" i quarried.

"Yes ma'am. We have reason to believe that your father's death was not a suicide, but a homicide. We would like you to come down to the station for questioning."

My world collapsed shattering into a million pieces.
