As we pulled up on the beach, there was every person from Miami Metro Homicide there, even the captain's private team.
"Wow Dad. This must be a pretty big one. Looks like they have all of the police department here on site." I say not looking at him.
"Yeah, and at 4 in the morning." he says and I chuckle to myself.
My dad checked his phone before getting out of his truck and went to the crime scene. I watched my dad walk into the big crowd of people, and got out of the truck. I made sure to leave my phone in the car, for Miami Metro wouldn't allow me to have my phone on the scene. They're like this because of the last teenager on the scene who took pictures and posted them on the internet.
I walked up to the scene slowly and looked around.
Agent Batista, Lt. Debra Morgan, Vince Masuka, Joey Quinn were all there. But where's Dexter Morgan?
I look around, trying to find Dexter, the forensics expert or also known as the blood spatter specialist, but I couldn't find any traces of him lurking around. His car wasn't here, he wasn't here, only Debra, and they didn't live together.
Maybe its Harrison he has to look over
Every since Rita died, Dexter has been taking care of his son, Harrison. I've seen him a couple of times, and he seems perfectly normal considering what had happened to him. He was a fairly cute child.
I was interrupted in mid thought as a rather loud car pulls up. It wasn't the car itself, it was the way the driver was driving it. The person, a male, had slammed on the brakes a bit too late as they crashed into one of the parked cars.
"Uhh.. guys? Someone just crashed into a car.." I half shouted to everyone around the scene.
As everyone walked towards and past me, I heard a couple 'What the fuck?"'s and a couple "Fucking drunk ass kid." and one "Shit man, thats my car".
When the driver had realized what had happened, he got out of his car very nonchalantly, and as soon as someone asked "What happened?", the guy took a run for it.
There were a few cops who pulled their guns and shot, but they missed terribly, considering half of them had woken up a half hour ago. They probably hadn't had their daily doughnut from Dexter.
"Hailie!" I heard my dad's voice boom and I turned as fast as I could.
"Yeah?"
My dad did a little face palm. "Run and get him please!"
"Oh right." I said as I took off running after the mystery man.
I first started to run straight, but my dad's voice went through my head.
Rules, Hailie, Rules.
I took an immediate right turn as I reached the street before the ally the mystery man ran into. I knew these streets like the back of my hand, and I wasn't going to let this one go.
I ran to the next block, knowing the man wasn't fast enough to pass me, and went left onto the street. I hid behind a mailbox and waited for the man to go running through.
When the man came running through, I ran up behind him and jumped on his back.
"Give up now, motherfucker" I whispered into his left ear.
"Over my dead fucking body" he shouted back and pulled a knife from his pocket.
The knife wasn't your ordinary pocket knife, it was much larger although it had the same body as a pocket knife. He pushed a button and the blade came out. When I saw the blade, I jumped off his back. I landed on my feet, and the man turned around.
"It's not my time, it's yours." he said loud enough for me to hear, but fairly quiet.
I cocked my head slightly to the left in confusion.
"We know all about you, Hailie."
I didn't let him finish what he wanted to say, as I ran towards him. He stuck his knife out at me and I dodged it. Although he had come close to cutting me, the knife had not come in contact with my skin at all.
The man was starting to get tired and lazy of what he was doing. I saw the chance to take the knife, but as I reached, he took a swing at me and the knife cut my left bicep. I grabbed my arm to try and stop it from bleeding, but the man pushed me to the ground and kicked me in my stomach a few times. With every kick, my insides felt like they were going to explode or come rushing out of my mouth.
When the guy was finished with what he wanted, he ran away and left me in the street.
