Years after the rebellion: a hunger games love story

                                                       SURPRISED VISITOR

I watch as the sun goes down. i never noticed how beautiful the sunset looked in the forest considering how much time i spend here. I cant believe its been 3 years since the rebellion, 3 years since i katniss Everdeen also known as the mockingjay took down the capitol and ended the war between the capitol and the twelve districts of panem. i mostly cant believe its been 3 years since my sister primrose Everdeen was blown up into to pieces never to be seen again. i would give anything to have her back in my life. i visit her grave everyday telling her about my day and how our dear mother cannot believe that she is really gone. i snap back to reliety noticing the tears driping down my face. it was getting dark so i pick up my bow and arrows and get my game bag which seem surprisinly light.i spent all day remembering my life 3 years ago during the war and the hunger games that i didnt even have enough time to hunt. the capitol is cruel and heartless. how can anyone put children in an arena to fight for their lives for their own entertainment?

as i walk back to the distict 12 gate which by the way is now against the law to electrify, i hear footsteps coming my way. i listen as the leaves crush under the person's feet. i pull out my bow and arrows and walk closer to where the noise was coming from. as i walk faster the foot steps seems to be getting closer and without thinking i release the arrow hitting the person rite on their left arm.

"OUCH!!!"

i heard a voice i haven't heard in years.

"oh my gosh i'm so sorry."

"its okay catnip."

i couln't believe my eyes.Gale.

i haven't seen or heard from Gale in 3 years. he had decided to stay in the capitol and help put everything back to the way they were.

"are you alright?"  i ask helping him up

"yeah im fine."

"you're lying" i said watching the blood squirt out his arm. sometimes i really need to think before i do anything.

"no". "Im fine really". he rips apart his shirt and wrap it around his arm.

"so what brings you back to district twelve?" i finnaly ended the silence as we walked.

"i wanted to see the person i love" he says touching my chin.

"you're blushing"

i pressed my cheek bones and start feeling embarrased.

as we walk, we talk about whats been going on in each others life. he explains how nothing has really change since we last saw each other.

"so how have you been?" gale ask me

"well i guess you already know about peeta and i, Were still together". gale didn't seem so happy with that answer so the walk back home was preety quiet. as we past my old home were we lived during the war, i go in to visit it and find prim's old cat buttercup sleeping in it. at least whats left of it. i pick him up quickly and place him inside my game bag as he goes back to his little purr.

"finnaly the victors village"

"you still live here?" gale asks

"yeah it is the victors village of course all the past victors live here including haymitch and peeta."

"oh" was all he could say probably feeling preety dumb.

i took a peek through peeta's window to see if anyone was home. empty. but i wasn't surprise considering he lived by himself. the probability of finding him home is 50/100.

As i open the door, i find peeta knocked out on the couch and my mother in the kitchen making dinner.

"I'm home."

In that quick second peeta wakes up and i feel sorry for waking him up. he gets up to kiss me but suddenly stops as gale walks through the door and suddenly the whole house felt like a black hole. empty and silent.

Peeta and gale have never been fans of each other. ever since the war ended and  i chose peeta instead of gale, gale was angry with me. but i think he got over it. or not. either way i know i love them both and nothing can change that.

I couphed loudly to end the silence in the house.

can i speak with you katniss? peeta asks pulling me by the arm.

what is he doing here? peeta says looking very aggrivated.

He found me in the woods. he says he just came back from the capitol and i dont think he has somewhere to live. i was thinking of asking him to live with haymitch till he finds a place to live.

fine peeta says shifting his body back to the living room.

"okay gale" i say walking back to the living room. do you have a place to stay?

actually no idon't.

i know its a long shot but do you wanna live with haymitch i ask  thinking about how i'm going convince haymitch to let gale stay with him for a while.

are you sure haymitch is going to like that idea catnip?

i dont know but its worth a shot rite?  Besides he will probably just agree because he is always drunk and then not remember it in the morning so we can convince him that he said yes for you to live there.
