Three-Girl Meets Friendship(Maya)

- Riles, do you like my cousin? - she lowers her head down as she turns red.

- I-I don't know. - she looks at me, her eyes are tearing up.

- Hey, hey, hey. No need to cry Pumpkin. It's alright. We'll figure something out. - I try not to think of Lucas' jealousy. As much as I try to keep my promise to him, I also really want to help my best friend. - Please get to know him first. He is not the person he looks like.

- Not that nice? - she makes puppy eyes.

- Not that nice. He might look cute, but he can't stay in one place for a long time.

- But-but he is always so sweet with you.

- Yes, but he is my cousin, we grew up together. He knew about what happened to me and hates my dad with me even though they sometimes meet. On the other hand, I know that he is a player. I know about his previous girlfriends and how he jumped from one to the other. I don't want to change your feelings, it's just a warning. Also, you should talk to Lucas as soon as possible. I'm sure he would understand your feelings and would respect you but please don't leave him in the dark.

- I just need a little time to figure things out. I don't want to throw out a stable relationship for someone I don't even know.

- Take your time, girl. If you need anything, I'll be here for you. I won't tell Lucas whats going on because it's your task but if he asks me too much I'm gonna send him to you right away. - I say and pull her into a hug.

- Thank you, Maya. -she smiles.

- No problem Riles, that's what friends are for. - she hugs me again. - I missed you, anyway.

- What?

- What? - I repeat her question.

- What do you mean by you missed me? I didn't go anywhere.

- Well, we didn't have a Riley and Maya moment in a while, because Lucas was always there with you. I am not hating on him or anything I just couldn't talk to you in private. - I try to avoid eye contact as the conversation is already awkward.

- Oh my god, I'm so sorry! Why did you never tell me? If you told me I would've hung out with you more without him.

- I didn't want to ruin anything between you two, so I just hung out with Zay. - I say as I look over to the boys. Lucas ends the phone call with Farkle, then starts walking towards us with Riley's phone.

- Do you want me to send him away? - Riley looks at me to see how I react to her question. I just shook my head.

- Do I disturb you, girls? - Lucas hands the phone over to Riley.

- No Huckleberry, we just finished discussing our periods. - I say but I immediately start to laugh. Lucas looks at Riley seriously.

- I think I'm just going to leave you two alone. Okay? Okay. - I walk back to Zay who is now standing with Josh, and that perfect girl.

Every time I see them together I can feel my heart break a little more and now its totally in pieces. The worst part of this is that Claire is literately perfect. 

- Maya, is everything okay with them? - Josh asks me and my butterflies come alive as I hear his voice. His voice is the same as its always been, but it still drives me crazy. He points towards Lucas and Riley who just look at each other without saying a single word.

- Yes, I guess that's normal. - I nervously laugh and we all start watching them, even Claire who doesn't know who Riley and Lucas are. Maybe I'm wrong and she knows stuff from Josh as they are probably a cute freaking couple. I'm not jealous at all, haha.

- Should we go there? - Josh tries to talk about their situation again.

- Yeah, you could try and talk to them, even though Lucas still doesn't like you. - Zay finally joins the conversation.

- Why would he not like me? Oh, wait. I understand. - he says while he looks at me. Lucas was not a fan of Josh when we had the whole love triangle situation going on.

- I didn't that was still a thing. - I whisper more likely to myself than to anyone else.

- It is. - Zay tries to say something more with his eyes but I can't figure out what.

Lucas and Riley talk for another ten minutes when the bell rings again and we all enter the class. I try to get some information from how they both look, but all I see is that Lucas is very confused.

The lesson starts but I don't pay attention to the teacher. All I want to know is what Riley told Lucas. I try to listen to Miss Watts, but her voice gets lost in my thoughts.
