Kapitel 39: Until We Meet Again

"A..tsu..ya..." Endou tried to grab Atsuya's sleeve but being held by Shirou, Gouenji and Kidou.

Atsuya was disappearing slowly from his legs. He used all of his power in order to protect the whole team from the blast. He created an icy barrier around them which dragging them out of the crumbling cave into nowhere. They had no idea with what had happened; all they knew was they're in a gloomy baseless space like when they had a match with Tenma's team. Since Tenma and his teammates were also tagged along, it cost Atsuya to force his whole life energy to teleport all of them at once. He knew very well with what he's doing so did Shirou. The twins were revived by Mamoru not just for free, there's a compensation for it. They shouldn't use their magic power, not even for a pinch or else, they would disappear totally not leaving a single trace. Shirou had no choice but to let Atsuya to sacrifice himself instead of him, since it's his own role. Each of them had different roles from the start, under Mamoru's authority. One of them would bear a role as the escort while the other one as the shield which guarding the determinant stone. Could it be that Mamoru could foresee it that's why he revived the twins by sacrificing himself?

"With this, I've fulfilled my duty, Endou Mamoru.." Said Atsuya by touching his left chest with his right hand, "guess that he can't hear me by now.." He chuckled, "it's my time.. Until we meet again, guys.. I'll leave the rest to you, nii-chan.." He gave his last smile to Shirou.

Atsuya didn't have spare time before he's totally disappeared into cold dust, leaving Shirou who nodded firmly at him. It's not like he didn't feel the sorrow, but he had prepared for this to come at any time. This time, his priority was only to escort Endou with the stone. Though the owner of the magic shield was gone, but the shield remained, not letting them to get out from it yet, not until they found something which could be stepped on.

"Endou, are you okay?" Asked Kidou by patting on Endou's back.

Endou nodded lightly after he coughed blood. His whole body was still heating up and he felt like there were thousands of needles pricking him from inside relentlessly.

"Endou Mamoru, at this rate, you will surely lose your life.." Said Kyousuke, "you have to overcome the rejection by yourself.. There's no one who can help you right now, not even a healing magic can reduce the pain.." He looked at Endou dejectedly.

"I... Know..." Said Endou trying to endure the pain.

Endou closed his eyes and in all sudden he's back to the dark place with the glowing tree like before. He still feeling the pain and this time, the darkness could even reach him. It's devouring him slowly from his legs, causing them to freezing up on the spot. Didn't the girl once say that as long as the tree was there, the darkness wouldn't reach him or was she lying? There's no time to file a question, since he's running out of time there. Endou scanned all around him, but as he turned his sight back to the glowing tree, he's jolted in shock by the sudden appearance of a certain figure. It's covered by golden light which gradually dimming out, revealing a purple haired girl with purplish eyes.

"Katora? Ugh.." The strong pain stung his heart.

"We meet again, the chosen one, Endou Mamoru.." Said Katora with a small smile, "we have no time.. You have to compat yourself with the stone or you will be destroyed by the stone itself.."

"I know... but... how?" Endou panted hard, squeezing his chest tight as the pain worsened.

Katora shook her head slowly, "the one who know the way is you.." She's getting closer to Endou, "but as you're compatible with the stone, it's the same like switching on the button.. Or should I say.. The activation of the calamity in this world.."

Endou's eyes widened in shock, "what did you say?"

"Actually, your previous stone is already activated but not completely, that's why you can use its power.. It's waiting for this stone to be awakened.." She pointed at Endou's chest, "at the time it's activated, it will bestowing the end upon this world at once.."

Endou snorted, "tch.. You make me look like a bad guy here, Katora.. It's like all is because of my fault.." He tried to stay still despite of the sting of pain.

"So, decide.. Will you in or will you out.." Katora offered her hand toward Endou, "you know exactly what's within each of the options.."

"I know, both of them will destroy me in the end.. So, it's useless to choose.." Endou sighed, "but.. I won't let the chance slipping out.." He grabbed Katora's hand determinedly.

Katora flinched, "are you sure?"

"Absolutely.." Affirmed Endou, "I'll keep the track on its right route.."

Katora chuckled, "you're really interesting.. That's why he chose you and leave everything to you.." Her look softened, "it's the time for you to accept the stone, Endou Mamoru.."

Endou gulped with a sweat flowing down on his face. He slapped his cheeks, preparing himself for the worst scenario after this. In a blink of an eye, Katora and the tree were gone. Endou could feel that he's no longer in the same spot, but it's still a pitch black view and the darkness was now reaching his knees. He started struggling in pain as he felt his whole body was heating up tensely. He fell on his knees while squeezing tight his chest. In all sudden, he felt his heart pounding and at the same time, he saw a vision in his mind. It's flipping up one by one like a photo album. He saw a certain boy with the same color bandana on his head was surrounded by some familiar faces with a gold trophy in his hands. As he lifted it up he could hear the cheers congratulated him. It's like he won a certain contest or something and the last vision was a huge building which had lightning symbol on the top middle of it. As the vision blurred away, Endou's eyes filled with tears. He once again squeezed his chest tight.

"Now I know what I should do.. I have to set the wish!" He's determined, "I don't care if you want to destroy my body, but as long as I can still stand on my legs, I won't give up! You hear that, Chrono Stone!?" Shouted him.

Slightly, Endou saw Katora nodded at him with a soft relief smile. As Endou standing up, the darkness which devouring his legs vanished at once. A dim light in the distance dragging him out from there.

He's ready..

Endou startled after a familiar voice he heard just now and before he reached the light, he looked back behind him only to find the auburn haired girl from before.

I'll take the compensation from you..

As she opened her hands, there's a small light came out from his chest and flying toward her, causing a weird feeling for him. Slightly, he saw a flash about two figures he knew very well which were vanishing before him earlier.

I'm taking the bond with the very important person which lies within you as the price of life I gave to you.. With this, you won't be able to remember their existences..

"I will never forget about them!" Exclaimed Endou, "even if you take those memories or whatever they're, I will force myself to keep them in my mind.." He grinned then giving her a thumb up, "besides, I'll need them in the world beyond the dream, hime.."

The girl widened her eyes then switched it with a soft look at him. She once again gave her warm smile as a relief sign.

He's the real one, isn't he? Endou Mamoru, the one who will be the history maker in his era..
