The 104th

After a hundered years of peace in their self-imposed confinement, the so-called Colossal Titan appeared and breached the defense. Titans infiltrated the safe zone, and the humans were forced to abandon the territory within Wall Maria. They were forced to take refuse behind Wall Rose.

It was the year 847, two years after the Titans' attack. I lost everything to the Titans. But, when I was shipped out on a rescue vessel, the words of one boy gave me a new purpose. I vowed to seek revenge on the Armored Titan, and reclaim my hometown. To fulfill that promise I made to myself, I joined the 104th Cadet Corps.

I finally made it here, I will become a soldier and defeat the Armored Titan!

We were standing in long rows, while instructor Sadies was doing "initiation", which seemed more like yelling and degrading... I was watching him yell at this one guy who had longer blonde hair, Sadies said they could feed him to the Titans... The next person he went to had washed out red hair.

"What do they call you?!" Sadies boomed, "Jean Kirschtein, from Trost District!" The boy named Jean responded. "And why are you here?!" Sadies yelled again. "...To join the Military Police Regiment, and live in the interior." Jean said with a nervous expression, "Oh... You wanna live in the interior, do you?" Sadies almost dropped his intimidating look, "Yes, sir." Jean said. With that, Sadies headbutted him with full force, making Jean crouch over to the ground, holding his head. "Who said you could sit?!" Sadies yelled again, "If you can't handle this, you can forget about the Military Police!" Sadies walked away from Jean.

As I had my head turned while I was watching them, I noticed Sadies was coming this way. I snapped my head to face forward quickly, hoping he wouldn't pay any mind to me... "What do they call you?!" He bent down to my height, "(F-F/N), (F/N) (L/N)!" I said nervously. "(L/N), is it? Another good-for-nothing, pathetic-sounding name!" He yelled," What are you doing here squirt?", "I've come to take out the Armored Titan!" I responded, trying to sound as strong as possible. "Is that so? Setting your sights high huh?" He questioned, "Remember to mark your body somehow so it's easier to identify your corpse!" I almost flinched at the thought of his words. He walked away and continued with the rite of passage grilling he's serving up to the other cadets.

He soon finished and started talking to all of us, "Okay, 104th cadets, listen up!" He started, getting all of our attention, "Right now, all you're good for is feeding the titans and slowing them down! But we're gonna teach you how to fight them! So if you don't wanna end up as Titan fodder, I suggest you learn, and you learn fast!" I looked over to that Jean kid, who looked straight faced. Sadies continued, "Today, we'll be drilling you in the proper way to use ODM gear! If any of you dopes are feeling clumsy, pick up your gear right now and go back to the interior! ...Okay let's see some action!" We all paused, and in unison we saluted with our hands fisted over our hearts.
