A new school year. A perfect time to move into a new school.

The car door slammed behind Mako, making him jump slightly. He turned his head to see his dad,who hated with all his heart, glaring at him through a rolled down window
"Nowye--now ye get homeb- homebefore 5 ya hear me?" He slurred his words, obviously drunk. Mako merely nodded, keeping his expression blank.
As his father drove away,Mako turned to look at his new school. It was of decent size, painted light grey with steps leading up to the main entrance that had double doors.
There were people hanging around the steps, chattering about something he didn't care about. He looked down at the small paper that had his schedule written on it
Sighing,he made his way up to the steps, trying to not make eye contact with anyone. The conversation instantly stopped and they all looked up at him.

Mako didn't blame them. He was 6'9 and 300 pounds (mainly muscle) But he felt very uncomfortable. Eyes looking him up and down, noticing every detail, eyes on his bruises and scars. He quickly flicked his eyes to the left, and what he saw sparked something inside of him.
2 large, curious, orange eyes staring at him. The host of these eyes seemed to be just as interesting. Pale, freckled skin. Wild blonde hair and.....only 1 leg and 1 arm. Mako tried not to stare for long,so he quickly made his way to the doors and stepped in.
He felt his heart beating. Those eyes. Those eyes. What was with those eyes? He shook his head, wiping some stray white hairs out of his face. Looking up,he saw the person at the main desk looking at him with a worried look.

"Hun? You okay?" He recognized her. When he was first getting signed up for school,he had met her first.
He forced a smile,and nodded.
He walked past the receptionist and into the hall. He took a deep breath. Looking up at the clock, and quickly his schedule.

Mako stepped into reading class a couple minutes early. No one was there but his teacher, who seemed to take notice to him quickly.
"Oh,hello Mako!" Mr. Ridge. A tall,dark-skinned,dorky guy. Mako met him ,aBe eng with all his other teachers 3 weeks before school. "I assume you're here to find out which seat is yours? Mako nodded friskly, smiling. He liked Mr.Ridge alot.
"Okay! You're seat is up here in the front by my desk. Sorry if it's a little small for you though-" he chuckled "you're a lot taller than anyone I've met!" Mako quietly laughed at this ,nodding.
"Its fine. I don't mind it." He dropped his backpack near the desk, sitting down. The bell rang and students began filling the halls and the classroom.

How smile vanished when he looked up ,the same kid from outside was walking into the room...walking to the desk next to him. The kid sat down barely paying any attention to Mako, who was staring at him out of the corner of his eye.

He turned his back to Mako, slouching horrendously, and talked to a pale girl with a pony tail of dark, almost purple who had a thick french accent.
The kid also had a thick accent. An Australian one. He was loud. Louder than the rest of the class. Mr.Ridge actually had to ask him to shush.

The rest of the day was a blur. The Australian kid was in every single one of Makos classes. He always say near Mako. Behind,Infront, and even beside him. Mako tried his best not to look at him for too long but, there was so much to look at.

He was tall, not as tall as Mako, but tall. He was pale, and dotted with lots and lots freckles. He had a long, hooked nose. He was slender, with barely noticeable muscles on his arm.
That was another thing.
Half of him was gone.
He had a peg leg and an empty space where an arm should be,his large, baggy t-shirt was tied in a quick knot.
Mako found himself staring at the kid at lunch. He sat at a table by himself,he didn't get any food. His dad forgot to give him money.
He was fine with this,he had his phone. He pulled it out of his back pocket, and began sifting through his multiple social media. He found posts from people he followed complaining about school starting, asshole teachers, and homework.
Mako was lucky he likes school,it helped him ignore his dad all day. He groaned. His dad was going to be waiting for him after school.
