Dear Daddy

   I'm a freshman now daddy. Are you proud? I haven't heard from you in a few years. You promised you'd be okay, so don't you dare be dead. I swear if you've died Ill be crushed. Do you want that?! So just stay alive for me daddy. Mommy received a letter that she wouldn't let me read. All she said was you are MIA. I've been so good. I promise. I've been trying so hard. I'm even at the top of my class.

    I think I have a crush on Josh. He's still dating Mika but that isn't going to stop me from falling for the idiot. That dumb, dumb boy has me head over heals. I don't even want to like him. But he's just so perfect in his own nerdy way.

He's still my best friend. Though Mika is a good friend of mine as well. I don't want to hurt her or ruin our friendship so I'm keeping my feelings for him a secret. It's hard, you know? I just want to tell him to love me back. To accept my feelings.

But Mika's mother and father are both in the Air Force. That's super cool, right?! They are never deployed too far away, and she gets to go with them. She is so lucky daddy. Why couldn't that happen for us? Why do we have to be different Daddy?

    He's so oblivious to my feelings for him, which is good. He always tells me about his plans to marry Mika after high school. I'm truly happy for him. But I want to be that girl. I want to be the one he can't shut up about. I want to be the one girls are envious of. Because he's so attractive. He's becoming quite popular Daddy. Do you think Josh will leave me behind?

   I'm starting drivers ed, daddy. Mom is going to buy me a car if I pass. She says that's what you would want. You know, she speaks of you as if you're dead. But that can't happen. It's not true because you promised. Do you remember your promise? I miss you daddy, please come home. I'm begging you.
