Greenhouse Academy: One Last Chance

Chapter 2: The First Challenge

"Make sure you all get to bed soon because we have our first challenge tomorrow," our house captain Leo said before doing his rounds of talking to everyone.

"Make sure you go to bed," I mockingly said to Stephanie.

"What's next is he gonna be monitoring what we eat,"  Stephanie replied while laughing.

I went back to reading, but moments later was pulled out of my book by Stephanie yelling "NO NO NO !!" at the video game she was playing.

I burst out laughing at her frustration. Which was immediately met with Stephanie's eyes staring at me like daggers.
This was nice, I couldn't imagine the last time I laughed this hard.

"You better be careful or I'll report you to the captain," she jokingly said.

"Ohh no what is he going to do make me go to bed," I sarcastically replied.

"Actually, I would read you a bedtime story first. It wouldn't be very captain-y of me to not to," Leo, our team captain said from behind me.

"In your dreams, and don't worry I already got a story right here," I replied while waving the book I was reading right in his face.

"Well then Bird, are you offering a bedtime story," Leo replied while grabbing my book.

"Once again, as I said earlier, in your dreams," I smiled as I grabbed my book back.

He then went to go joke around with the other team members.

"I'm heading to bed," I said as I closed my book.

"Challenge day ! Everyone get up and get moving !! We will be meeting in the Raven clubhouse in an hour !" Leo cheered in the morning. Too early in the morning, if I may say so myself.

"Ten more minutes," Stephanie hollered across the room.

"I second that" I said as I rolled over and went back to sleep.

"Olivia, Olivia !!" I heard a panicked voice say.

"Five more minutes," I asked as I rolled over. Five more minutes and I'll be ready to wake up.

"Olivia we have to be downstairs in five minutes," I opened my eyes to see Stephanie fully dressed and ready to go.

Ohh god, I quickly rummaged through my clothes and grabbed the first pair of pants and shirt I could find. I quickly ran by the mirror and just through my hair up into a pony tale. Today was just going to be one of those days.

I quickly ran downstairs with Stephanie to make sure we made it to the room on time.

"Good morning, I hope you have enough  rest because today we will be having our first challenge !" one of the professors cheered.

As the professor continued to talk, I could feel Leo glare at me from across the classroom, yup I was definitely in trouble.

"Alright so the first challenge is a riddle. Solve the riddle and you will not only win the first challenge, you will also win a pizza dinner," the professor continued on saying.

"Here is the riddle:
There was a green house. Inside the green house there was a white house. Inside the white house there was a red house. Inside the red house there were lots of babies. For my babies will hold my secret key"

Twenty minutes of brainstorming later we ended up outside walking around looking for a green building or box of some sort.

"This is hopeless," Stephanie said as we all wandered outside.

"At least the Eagles are as lost as us," I mentioned as the other house continued to walk around in circles.

"Shoot and now I'm hungry," Stephanie added as we both sat down.

"There has got to be something we are missing," I said as I lied back.

"What was the riddle again ? Green, white, red, then babies ?" I asked Stephanie.

"Yeah, Bird, why ? ," Leo added as he sat next to me.

"I'm blaming you for me being hungry," Stephanie said as she stood up and walked away.

"If ya want to be hungry why don't you go back and grab some food....food" I said to Stephanie.

Food, that was it a fruit's baby is a seed.
"What fruit has black seeds," I asked Leo.

"Watermelon!" Leo said.

It's a watermelon.

"Where's the cafeteria or a food court," I whispered back to Leo.

He quickly grabbed my hand and led me to the food court.

There was a fruit salad in a large watermelon bowl sitting on a table to the far left. If you weren't looking for it you wouldn't have found it, but so guess that was the point.

I quickly dig my hands into the fruit salad and found a key at the bottom.

"Ohh cute," I sarcastically said as I looked at the key that had a watermelon pattern on it. I tried to ignore the slime that now covered my hands from the fruit salad.

I was talking to Chad and Felicity, two other raven house members, about this morning's challenge when we were quickly interrupted.

"Wooo Pizza !!" on of my housemates yelled as the pizza was being delivered to our club room or the clubhouse as some people call it.

I was about to get up and grab some of our prize when I felt a little buzz in my pocket.

Really, did you think that escaping to California will save you ?? Tsk Tsk, you must be stupider than I thought.

"Hey I'm gonna go take a shower. I kinda woke up late and didn't shower this morning," I shakily said to them as I walked to the showers.

"Okay, I'll try to save you a piece," I heard Stephanie yell from across the room.
