The plan was simple. Or so it seemed. Nancy, Arthur and Victoria would go to the charity event the day after tomorrow, a Saturday. They would dress to blend in and wear masks, a requirement anyway. The masks, the change of hair, the tans would help to disguise them because it was sure they would be recognised otherwise. Arthur was posing as Gregory, Nancy was posing as Lola and Victoria was posing as Elizabeth, Lola's cousin.
During the midst of one of the charity events, Arthur would leave and plant cameras and recording devices using Victoria as guidance to help him through the house as she knew the house well. Once that was done, they would wait and listen and watch. After that, they would know for sure how to approach Nathan.
Arthur took Nancy out for her disguise. She picked out a black and white one-shoulder dress with a black lace skirt which was long at the back and pinned up at the front to reveal a white and black tighter skirt which was at the knees. She had also chosen a black mask that surrounded her eyes and covered her forehead, revealing only the bottom half of her face.
The day before the charity event, Arthur went to work. The girls were at school and nursery. Nancy came over to see Victoria and help her with the gadgets.
"So what have we got?" Nancy asked once a pot of tea had been poured out for the pair of them. Victoria carefully set out each individual box.
"Three earpieces. Arthur revised upon the two once you were confirmed to come." They took out each earpiece and started to charge them up. Apparently, they were required to be charged for two hours and be able to give seven hours of life.
"What else?"
"Fibre optic cameras. They have to be charged as well." Nancy rolled her eyes.
"Well, this is exciting. Anything that doesn't have to be charged?"
"Erm. No."
"Brilliant."
They ended up watching a film and drinking tea. However, they had to collect the toddlers before the gadgets were charged up. Aurora and Daisy ran around the house while they finally got to test the gadgets. They took turns setting up the cameras and hiding them while the other had to find them, a very fun game. They then tested the cameras at different heights and tested the recording of audio. You could hear someone whispering at a reasonable distance from the camera. Next was the earpieces. Victoria went upstairs while Nancy stayed downstairs with the girls. When that worked, Nancy went in the garden while Victoria went downstairs. Finally, Nancy went for a small walk. She kept walking until the static started to break them up. It took her five houses to get to that point.
"A success," Nancy said as Victoria charged the gadgets back up.
"When the cameras are live, I'll get the recordings and Arthur will too. I think we're ready for this."
"We're totally ready for this." Nancy agreed with a smile.
