I slipped on the backpack, careful enough to not drop the baby. I opened the door, leaning my head out to check the dark corridors and saw no sign of zombies. A good sign. I gestured them to follow me as I led the way. I ran into an elevator, and they came in right behind me. I pressed a button and the elevator shook because of its old age, and it was never used for a long time. Once the doors opened, we ran out and headed towards the front entrance. The bad stench hit me like a bullet, and I coughed and gagged. A zombie jumped on me and then I shot it in the end. It was a nurse who must've got turned.
I turned around to make sure Harry was right behind me. He was struggling because zombie was running towards him. Crap. I pressed the trigger, and the bullet instantly hit the zombie's neck. Harry looked at me with a look of gratitude, and I nodded. We continued ahead; we were heading in a different path than my backyard one. We stopped in front of a gun shop. How convenient. I ran inside and grabbed a couple of guns and numerous packs of bullets, placing them inside, except my own gun. I exited the store, and we headed straight towards my house. A swarm of zombies came our way, and we couldn't tell how much were there.
"You guys go ahead," I said, handing over Darcy to Marie who clutched her daughter tightly. Harry gave a worried look, "Be careful." He ran ahead after I gave him directions to my house. I turned back to the herd of the zombies who were coming my way fast. I slipped out another gun from my backpack, so I had a gun in each hand. I was so pumped up and ready to fight. I started to shoot bullets as I watched the bodies fall to ground forever. When I thought it would take 1000 years, all of the zombies were dead. I panted out of breath. I dropped the guns out of my sweaty palms. I picked them up again and ran towards my house. I didn't see Harry and Marie, so I'm guessing they're already inside my house.
I walked on top of the broken door then I quietly tiptoed into the living room and saw Harry placing Marie on the couch with their baby. I was about to speak until he placed a finger on his lips, telling me to hush because the baby was sleeping. I closed my lips and told him to follow me into the kitchen. Once we were both inside, I said, "Thank god, you guys made it."
I dropped my backpack and placed it on the kitchen table. I sat in a chair, seeing the leftover bread and pieces of cheese and ham with the jar of mayonnaise. I made a sandwich and placed it in front of Harry who started to eat. When he finished, I washed all of the plates, and we sat quietly until he said, "I think you have to fix up your door before any more zombies walk in here."
"Yeah," I laughed, "Okay." We left the kitchen to the front door. We patched up the door with him doing all the hard work and me just standing there. Haha oh well then. The weight lifted off my shoulders when it was all done. Now, I don't have to worry about some dead walker inside my house.
Harry asked, "Where's your friend with the zombie rabies disease or whatever?" My eyes widened, how could I forget? I ran down the basement steps to see Dylan still unconscious. I heard footsteps after me, and I turned to see Harry. He gasped, his mouth gaped while looking at me, "Dylan O'Brien? Wow, an actual celebrity? Well, I am one too, I guess."
I awkwardly laughed and replied, "Yeah, strange it is. It's a long story."
"Let me help," he said, as he took the heavy backpack off from my aching shoulders. I sat down on the floor; my legs felt extremely weak and tired from all the running I've done. He zipped open the backpack and dumped it out, the guns I collected jumbled out. He gave me a confused look, but then his face showed realization. He took out the box, and I saw him slip something out of backpack. A pocketknife. He cut off the tape and took out a bunch of syringes and jars filled with bluish and clear liquid.
"That's the antidote?" I asked, taking one of the jars and examining it carefully and with curiosity.
"Well yeah, but why did you leave him all taped like that?" Harry asked, getting up to take off the tape from Dylan's mouth, but I stopped his hand from doing so.
"Oh please, that mouth can spread a disease literally," I answered, pulling his hand away. He thought for a minute then nodded. We opened one of the jars and used a syringe to suck up some of its liquid. We injected Dylan's arm right at the bite mark. "Do you know how long will this take?"
"I read the information page that was listed on top of the boxes in the cainet back at the hospital, and it said it would take 1-2 days for it to kick in," he smiled as he cleaned off the needle and shoved all the stuff back into the box. We walked up the stairs, locking the door and going back to Marie and Darcy.
"Marie, would you like something to eat?" I asked, once we sat on a couch in front of the two. "I'll take care of the baby if you want."
"Okay, thank you so much," She said, handing me Darcy and getting up from her laying position. Harry led her into the kitchen, and I supposed he's making her food. I cradled the baby softly, singing a small lullaby. Darcy opened her little chocolate brown eyes, gazing at me. When I think about it, I kind of like Dylan. I have to admit; I just don't think he'll ever like me back after all I had done to him. I basically killed him twice, and it's my fault. He wanted to find his friends even his family one day, just to see them again one last time, and I ruined his chances, his dreams, his life. Should I just leave everyone alone? Can I just die? Dylan's life would be so much better without me. Once he wakes up perfectly fine, I have to leave. Suddenly, I felt a hand on my cheek.
I looked up to see Dylan smiling down at me. His adorable cheekbones were so broad when he smiled. His cute little dimples dented into his skin perfectly. He leaned in; his soft pink lips touched mine. I kissed back to feel his plump lips with mine. I heard someone call my name then I blinked rapidly. Dylan disappeared, fading from me, and in front of me was Marie.
"Hey are you okay?" she said, grabbing a tissue and gently wiping the tears off of my face. "You're crying."
"Yeah, I'm fine," I nodded in reply, "It's going to be late. You should be getting some rest."
She slightly nodded her head, not convinced with my answer at all. "Okay, sure. You should get some rest as well. By the way, do you have any extra clothes for Harry and I?"
"Yeah, I do, lemme just get them for you," I said, nodding and walking up the stairs. I walked into Luke's room, and the familiar scent of my brother hit me back in the face. I hope Luke and the rest of my family are all right. I grabbed a shirt and a pair of basketball shorts for Harry. I went into my room and took a baggy tee and a pair of yoga pants for Marie.
I walked down stairs with the clothes and gave them their outfits. "Toothbrushes and toothpastes are in the bathroom cabinets. If you need to use the showers, you can and you can eat as much as needed."
"Thank you, that's so kind of you," Marie thanked and hugged me. I returned the hug and smiled.
"No problem." I grabbed some blankets and pillows and handed them over. We said goodnight with Harry guarding the house. I walked up the stairs, exhausted from the day. A lot of things happened; I felt like my brain was going to explode. I collapsed onto my bed, not caring about changing into more comfortable clothes.
Thanks so much for reading!!! I know it has been such a long time since I last updated and you guys have been waiting a long time, so here it is. It's not much and it is probably short. I haven't proofread anything yet, so please ignore the grammar mistakes. I usually write my fanfics on word before I post them on Wattpad, so they would be close to perfect. And again most dedicated fans will get a dedication. Love ya, J
