Four hours had passed since Jordan had left my apartment. I was pacing back and forth, Tasia asleep on my chest, just wishing he would call. A couple hours ago he had texted, 'Things are looking up.' Thats it. No further details or explanations. I don't have the slightest clue what's going on over there, and it made me worried sick. I just want to be sure he's okay.
I finally have tired myself out so I love to sitting on the couch. Tasia is still sound asleep so I get into a comfortable position on the couch and try to nap off my neevousness.
Just as I dozed off, I hear a loud BANG! My eyes snap opens and I shoot up out of my seat holding Tasia tight. She's awoken by the sound and begins to whine softly. BANG! With the last bang the door flies open and standing in the doorway is a man I've never seen before. He's very tall and wide, and his eyes are like two black holes. Soulless. I run to the kitchen which is luckily away from the large man and not towards. I grab a large knife and place Tasia on the ground behind me pressing her into the corner of the cabinets trying to keep her safe and hidden.
"Come here you little bitch! You're coming with me one way or another. We can do this the hard way or the easy way! It's up to you." He snarls.
I can hear his footsteps approaching coming around the corner, and my body begins to shake. I grip the knife tight as I can in my hand and then between the fast hard thumping of my heart and scared cry of my child I feel almost deaf. The man comes into view.
"What do you want?" I ask. "Just leave us alone!" I demand.
He lets out a deep, slow, evil chuckle. "I'm just following orders, lady. And the orders say bring you both, dead or alive."
"You come near me and I will kill you!" I scream. At that moment I know it is true. I will do anything to protect my daughter. I will die for her if I have to, but I WILL save her. Something in me stirs. I begin to feel stronger, and then something weird happens.
"Breathe, baby, breathe. Stay calm, and be smart." I can hear Jordan's voice in my head. "You can do this. He doesn't know we've mated yet. He will underestimate you. Play on that. Since we've mated I can allow you to absorb some of my strength, but not for long. I'll be there as soon I can baby. I love you."
"I love you too." I think, not sure if he can hear or not.
I take everything Jordan said into consideration as the man moves in on me. I take a couple steps forward before he lunges at me so that we're not so close to Tasia. He tries to grab hold of both of my arms but I don't allow him to. Using everything in me to keep my weapon. He brings his fist back and punches me. And I know 30 minutes ago that punch might have knocked me out, but it doesn't. What it does is enrage me. He's surprised at the fact that there was little affect on me and falters. I take my opportunity and without thinking I stab that mother fucker in his neck. It doesn't hit him deep enough or doesn't hit the right artery, but enough that he's severely wounded, but he had slept my arm flinging the knife out of my hand. With my other hand I bring it up and gouge his eyes.
"Aaaaargh!" He screams out in pain, grabbing his face.
I reach for another knife out of the drawer behind me and stab him two or three times in the gut. He falls down into a puddle of his own blood. I pick up my screaming daughter, tears gushing from her eyes and hold her to me tight. I can't tear my eyes away from the dying man, afraid he will get back up and attack again. I then hear him begin to gasp for hair, and take his last breath. Tears begin to roll down my face, my body shakes from the let down of adrenaline.
I just killed a man.
I can hear Jordan yelling my name, but I can't make my mouth move, all I can do is stare.
I feel Jordan's hands on my shoulders shaking me gently, and that's when I can look up at him. He's flushed, and disheveled, and has a few cuts and scrapes on him. Jordan envelops is into a hug and squeezes us tight. I begin to feel a little better just being in arms, and Tasia's cries quiet, assuredly from her feeling me relax a little. He grabs our faces one at a time giving us a kiss on the forehead.
"I was so scared. Trish I'm so sorry I wasn't here to protect you both, I'm so sorry." He says with a deep emotion. Then I feel him stiffen, and his voice becomes dark like I've never heard, "But I promise you I will find out who's behind this. And they will pay with their lives." His statement makes me shudder, but I don't blame him at all for his declaration. He takes a few minutes to explain that he thinks his father or someone else who knows he's mated a human sent him.
Jordan pulls away from us, wiping the tears from my face. "Here," he says handing me his wallet and car key. "He trashed you car before he came up I guess. Take mine, take my money, and go to that Inn two towns over. The one outside of town."
He leans down and gives me another kiss before telling me to go. He assured me he will be able to find a way there, but first someone was coming to help him clean up my apartment.

I was so nervous to be away from Jordan again, but I knew he was doing what had to be done. I mean how can you explain to the police that the reason an inhumanly large man came to take or kill you was because you weren't a werewolf? You can't. So we checked into the inn, locked the door, and I took a shower with my baby and just enjoyed this moment with her so happy she was safe and unscathed.

Jordan got to the inn 2/3 hours later. Tasia and I were laying together on the queen sized bed fast asleep by then but I get jostled awake when he crawls into bed next to me and quickly falls asleep. I admire the man next to me, and appreciate him before I fall fast asleep as well.
