Matthew was in shock. He couldn't believe they had come all this way just to lose his best friend. His muscles were aching with the spell he had cast. He didn't make Demien vanish forever, he simply cast a spell to make the earth swallow him for three weeks, and after that, he would be spat out on the other side of the world.

"We must not waste time," Lysandros had told him. "We are all sad, but we must not throw Jordan's death into the trash can." Matthew mounted Blizzard, and headed North, forgetting about Lysandros and Sir Redmont, while wishing the earth would swallow him up, like the earth did to Demien.

For the next few days, Matthew's arm was throbbing badly. He tried to hide the pain, but Lysandros noticed it. When they stopped by a river to get water, Lysandros came over to Matthew, and asked Matthew to show his left arm. Matthew reluctantly showed Lysandros, and when he saw it, Lysandros stared. "Why didn't you show us this before?" asked Lysandros. When Matthew didn't reply, he gripped his staff and cast a healing spell. "Next time you get a bad injury, you need to tell us." Lysandros didn't mention that he was cursed with bad luck until he destroyed the pack of the Huredof wolves.

As they got closer to their destination, the Kingdom of Fear, they could vaguely here wolves howling day and night. What they didn't know was it was the original Huredof wolves, and Matthew was destined to be killed by them, or to kill them. They had covered a lot of distance in the days that past, but when it was the tenth day, something stopped them.

Lysandros felt something stalking them, and turned around. The thing stalking them was too slow to hide, and Lysandros saw a furry black creature run into a bush. He alerted Sir Redmont and Matthew, and got ready for an ambush. They counted to five when something pounced at them. They all blacked out, and the last thing Lysandros could remember was a growl next to his year, that sounded like, "You have no business near the Kingdom of Fear. You will spend your time as-"
