Dice had now been in the hospital for three weeks. He had grown exceptionally agitated and irritated with everyday that past, but soon after the third week they let him go. Even having the kindness to clean his original shirt and send him home in it.
17th September. 12 days till his birthday. 12 days until he could legally walk into a casino. Even if he had done it plenty of times before, his height gave him the advantage of looking older. He called it a natural gift. If only he could grow facial hair properly. That would really help sell his fake identity.
For now he sat, slouching on the couch, staring forward at the mirror on the wall, drawing a long breath in before sighing it all out. Dice rubbed his eyes with his hands and went back to staring at the mirror.
"Pull yourself together Dice" he muttered getting to his feet and walking to the kitchen of the apartment which was joined to the main room.
He grabbed his literal dice from the counter. They were a hot pink colour and were made of translucent plastic that were illuminated into the light. Perhaps a very unusual colour for a young man of his age. He snatched up his playing cards. Pulling out his custom card. It had a picture of him mirrored in the middle, with purple dice in the corners with a 'K' representing his infamous title as 'King of The Dice' . One half of him looked happy and cheerful. The other had a colder look in it's eyes, with a seemingly devilish smirk. Both wore golden crowns.
Stuffing the card deck (minus his custom card) into a pocket of his trousers, he went to his room and pulled his bowtie from the weird rack he had on his closet and tied it to his neck. It was purple, anyone could judge it as a strange colour but it was special to him. A colour close to his heart even, he even favoured it over other colours. He combed through his hair to neaten the messiness it has gotten from not being tended to while at hospital. Since he hasn't the facilities to take proper care of hisself. Yet another thing he hated. He was confident in his appearance and hated when he looked so scruffy he liked to at least look presentable.
He knew how he was gonna spend the night. Racking in cash once again. Mess around with the few 'friends' he actually had. Yep the seventeen year old had a busy night ahead of him. Full of flirting girls, drunken idiots with nothing less to loose, arrogant smug bastards who think their better then others, men who liked to show off their wealth with expensive tobacco in cigars.
In honesty he loathed those men, he loathed them simply because he couldn't ever be one of them. Their riches gave them respect, it made them high in the rankings, it gave them big houses, pretty girls, the confidence to do anything they wanted. Dice wanted to be like that. He wanted to be respected. He wanted to be feared. He wanted to be loved and adored. He wanted everyone to know his name. But until then he'd loath the ones who were better off.

The busy sound of the street was calming. The bustle of all the cars passing. The headlights reflected the white shine of dice's shirt. He ducked down an alley and walked through it to a 'quieter' street. It was full of laughter and music. It was the part central, bars and clubs a plenty. The odd casino here and there. He scanned over each one with his eyes. Scouting for a good place to rack in the cash for that night.
"Well pull me to hell and call me a goblin, if it ain't Dicky Dice!" A voice laughed from dice's right.
Dice turned his head and observed as a ginger haired male came towards him. Dice immediately recognised the face of Nicky Frankterino. His closest friend and only friend of 3 years. If you could exactly call it a friendship.
