Maya had lately asked me to assist her in a carnival for her store promotions. She assured me to pay at least $1000 but the work was for a an entire day. My decision was rocky until Helena said she would take care of Nianna.
I couldn't trust anyone for handling Nianna. Bringing Nianna into the carnival would be a brainless move because Maya warned me about the immense population of the carnival held last year. It would be impossible to manage her, feeding her timely, changing diapers. Many customers might even lose interest if the sales girl remains busy and not pursuing enough."Why don't you trust me?," Helena asked, heading to me when she tumbled against the kitchen counter.
"This... is why I don't trust you""Urghhhh stop acting like those sceptical moms" she huffed.
"Because I am a MOM"
"See how good Nianna is with me... No?" Helena bragged as she lifted Nianna to her chest.
"You can't boil an egg, often forget to flush after pooping, sleep like a dead cow. How will you manage to boil milk, change her diapers, and..."
"Shut up Betty, that's pooping and this is Nianna.. that's boiling an egg and this is Nianna.. that's sleeping and this is Nianna", she said cutting lecture, giving me an obvious baffled look.
I was instantly thawed as she flashed me an innocent, melancholic look.
Next day.. Helena appeared to me very early as I would be leaving for the carnival. She gave me evey assuring expression she stocked, to make me stress free. I love her. I placed a baby kiss on Nianna's forehead gently before leaving and felt the warmth of her palms on my cheeks by rubbing. I felt myself being so pessimistic, it never happened this much before.
Finally I arrived at the carnival. I pushed my way through the throng to reach my store. Maya was happy find me real quick.
"I thought you would be late", she smiled.
"Fortunately not""Let's get it started, I already made eighteen sales.. well actually seventeen point five sales" she snorted in a laughter.
"Point five?" I questioned, scratching my head.
" yes.. a customer tried a Clinique lipstick. She loved it but unfortunately forgot to take the cap after swatching.. so that's where seventeen point five comes from" she reasoned out playfully.
I laughed along with her. But suddenly my heart tickled to discern what's Nianna doing. So I made a call to Helena.
"I knew this.. Come on it's not even been half an hour!" Helena complained from the other side."Shut up. What have you done to my baby" I almost grumbled.
"She's in the world of dreams right now" Helena held back her laughter knowing my agitation.
"Don't forget to feed her after she wakes up"
"Yes your Highness" she mocked out.
I felt my stiffness softened after I got to know about Nianna yet sleeping. I felt like I got my booze to kick start my work.
I pursuaded lots of customers to buy our make up products. Estee Lauder double wear foundation took the largest sale quantity. It was amazing when I used it earlier, Maya gifted me one.
Urban Decay, Tarte, Lancome, Huda Beauty and Fenty cosmetics were also sold in a jiffy as well. It was already evening, when the store shelves were empty. Just few of Becca, Nyx and Nars cosmetics were left. I offered mouth watering discounts to the final customers for shelf clearance. Maya was so happy to have successful sales, and she awarded me $1500. My legs were itching to get home as fast as possible."It's fine.. You can go home Betty. I'll clean it all up", she smiled.
"Thank you so much Maya! You're the best boss I can ever have" I said kissing her cheek and immediately left. I could only make 3 calls to Helena while work, as customers were swarming around. And my phone balance ran out during the last call with Helena. Maya understood how impatient I was growing, thus she let me go early.
