He raced through the forest, his paws barely touching the floor. He wasn't going to let it escape! He halted, his paws skimming along the dirt ground. He launched his muscles, and...  

"ARGH!" Magickit squealed, his kitten fluff catching on a tree. " Get... ofa... ME!"  

He furiously twisted and turned around. A beautiful dappled grey and brown she-cat came to view. "Magickit! I told you not to climb the bird tree!'  

"But Rivershade-"

"No buts" She grabbed him by the neck and settled him down on the floor. "What were you doing?"

Magickit sat straight up right again " I Caught this!" He lowered a green leaf to the ground and puffed out his chest fur with pride.  

" A  herb? You don't catch leaves,"  Rivershade asked, confused.

"You don't? It looked like a wild animal to me. It was twitching and moving on the grass!" He then realised that was just the wind.  

"Oh.... Whoops." He stammered.  

"What is this?"  

Magickit looked up. Moonstar! He hadn't realised she was watching all of this. He bowed his head and shuffled his paws with embarrassment. "I...I was..I-"

"He caught a leaf" Rivershade said simply. Moonstar raised an eyebrow.

“He what?”  tigerkit and bramblekit trotted into the room, with their mother twistedtalon at the rear.  Magickit blushed. Those kits were always teasing him, and now they came to see this.

“Well, I was just trying to-” Magickit began

“He just made a mistake, that’s all,” Rivershade said in her kits’ defence. She and twistedtalon were always arguing.

“What, you acidentally caught a herb?” tigerkit sneered.

“You mistook a leaf with prey? Pathetic!” Bramblekit taunted.

Magickit wasn’t sure, but he could of sworn he saw twistedtalon smile at her kits mean comments.

“You should leave the clan. All you do is mess things up for everybody!” tigerkit snarled.

“Whatever,” Magickit mumbled. He trotted away, towards the river.

He breathed in the fresh smells. In the distance, he could hear the two mothers and the leader shouting. Magickit sighed. I’m not going to let my mistaskes get in the way! He thought to himself. What was the story that The elders told me? Oh, yeah! Firestar, one of the greatest warriors in clan history, had kittypet parents and always made mistakes- but he ended up even having a prophecy from star clan about him! Maybe I will to? He shook his head as he thought about the unlikley possibility of that ever happening.

“Well,” he said to himself, “My kit days are over. Tommorow I’m a apprentice, and I’m going to train harder than ever to become a warrior no matter what those other fox breathed kits think!”

He walked back to camp.
