Chapter 2

"Dr. Weeders?!" Daniel yelled as he knocked on the door.

"So," I said, looking over at Leila, "I've been meaning to ask you about those wings..."

"Wow." She said, looking shocked, "You really aren't from around here are you? I'm a pixie, it's quite common, really, I mean, Queen Valerian's a pixie."

"Queen Valerian?"

"Ooh. Right, you have no idea who she is."

"Not a clue."

"DOCTOR!?" Daniel yelled through the door.

"Daniel, I don't think he's here..." Leila said.

"Uh, hello?" A voice from behind us asked.

The three of us spun around. Standing be hind us was, yet another pixie!

"Colby!" Leila said, "Do you know where Dr. Weeders is?"

"He's on his lunch break, he'll be back in ten minutes, why?"

"Jade, here," Daniel said, pointing at me, "Fell from the sky."

"SHE DID WHAT???" 'Colby' exclaimed.

"She fe---" Daniel started.

"I heard you the first time." Colby stated.

"FluffyStrand?" Someone's voice said from behind Colby.

Colby spun around.

"Colby FluffyStrand." A man dressed in a red ninja costume said.

"FlamePaw?" Leila exclaimed from behind me.

"Yes," the man said, "And you are?"

"Leila RoseEyes." She stated bravely."

Then FlamePaw saw me, "Jade?" He asked.

"How do you now my name?" I said skeptically.

"Never mind. Thought you were someone else. Now I must go."

"Okay." I said as FlamePaw ran off, "Who the heck was that?"

"FlamePaw," Colby said, "Local ninja."

"Oh." I said.

"Well I have to get back the the SnowHill mines." Colby said, with realization in his voice.

This was the first time I noticed that he was wearing full miner attire. As Colby walked off I realized how thoroughly confused I was. All these names were playing through my head, FlamePaw, FlufflyStrand, SnowHill, Dr. Weeders, it was all so strange.

"Are you alright Jade?" Leila asked looking at me, worried.

"I'm fine," I said, "Just confused."

"Here." She said pulling the brown, leather purse she carried off her shoulder and reaching into it. She pulled out a large black, leather book and handed it to me, "It's the History of the Great Tree, read it."

"Yoo hoo, you're standing in front of my Do-or." An old man's voice sang from behind us.

Daniel turned around, "Dr. Weeders!"

"That's me, what can I do ya for?" The doctor asked.

"Jade, she fell out of the sky." Leila said.

"Oh my." Remarked Dr. Weeders, "That's not normal."
