Acceptance is what makes you choose to do things you don't want to however, you accept that they must be doing. Every day you must accept decisions and accept that that person you don't like, that annoying dog or the teacher is going to be there for a while and you need to accept that. Its accepting that people you love will pass away one day and might not be there for you.

And without acceptance, Melange would be wasting her life away in her room.

Melange had only been 13 when her parents were killed in the avalanche that had nearly destroyed her life. Even if she had been buried in over two meters of snow, she knew that she had a chance. Each time there is an Avalanche, dogs are sent out with rescuers to save the victims trapped.

However, Melange knew that she needed to find her parents. It was just something she had to do. So, when a warm tongue found her and started licking her, she immediately was pulled out of the snow and taken to a vehicle, where she was given a blanket and hot drink. However, she wanted to find her parents. The people that had saved her told her that they were gone, they had been too late.

Melange had been afraid of tight spaces ever since.

She hid herself in her room at her aunts and uncles and she refused to come out. She didn't want to live, basically. It was very unhealthy. Her Aunt and Uncle tried to get her to talk but they couldn't. However, one day, Melange had unlocked her door, allowing her aunt and uncle to look inside. What they saw, gave them an idea.

Melange had pictures of different types of dogs on the walls, every wall had a husky, however. That's when her aunt and uncle started putting together ideas for her birthday present. They had gone out to the local dog sled breeders, looking for a puppy. They found a female who probably would not be used for racing as she was too small, even if she's only a puppy.

They managed to get the puppy for cheap, making sure that the puppy would be happy at their home. They 'puppy proofed' the house, making sure that the puppy wouldn't get hurt. And on the day of Melange's birthday, they then decided to give the puppy to Melange. They called her out for breakfast, however she didn't come. This worried them as they wondered why she didn't.

So, they decided to surprise her in her room. They took the puppy, whom had a bow around her neck and put her in a box. The puppy kept squeaking though, but they didn't care. They brought the puppy to Melange, who told them she didn't need a birthday gift, however when she opened it, her face was worth all the trouble of trying to find the puppy.

Melange had hugged the puppy close to her. That was the day when Melange finally opened to the fact that her parents were gone and that they would never come back. But that's ok. Since they would always be with her. And she would never be able to replace them, no. She couldn't. She'd have to find someone very special to replace them and that would never happen.

But you must accept the fact that they won't come back. Because if you live in fantasies all the time, then you will never see the bigger picture. You would never believe in what you should. Fantasies are ok. You can dream. But make sure you are staying with the reality of what's happening. Because that could be fatal.

oO – Oo

Melange looks back on that day with a smile, as she places a flower bundle on the gravestones of her parents, tears in her eyes as she smiles, before she feels a soft furry head touch her hand, as she looks down on Scout, Yuki's daughter. Yuki had passed away about a year ago now and Melange had to accept that. Yuki had been Melange's best friend.

It's hard now that she is gone. Melange has to get through the troubles of trying to care for her dogs and her daughter, Cinder. She had only been born about three months ago, and Melange already loves her. Melange feels a hand on her shoulder and she looks up to see her husband, Malcom, whom smiles at her. She had met Malcom on the race track.

Malcom smiles as his favourite dog, Jake, as Jake sits next to Scout, his tail wagging as the Burmese Mountain Dog touches the other dog's head with his nose, reminding Melange of Yuki and Milo, whom are now gone. But, you have to accept that. Like how Melange accepted that her parents wouldn't come back.

Melange smiles at her husband, nodding to him as he takes her hand, as he starts to lead her away from the gravesite, them walking together, hand in hand. Once they reach the car, Cinder starts crying from her place in Malcom's arms. Melange smiles as she takes Cinder in her own arms and kisses her nose, smiling as the child giggles, before Melange takes her down to where the dogs are sitting and Cinder giggles, reaching out to touch Scout as Scout barks happily.

Melange loves her family. From Scout to Cinder, from Tory, Moon and Copper's daughter to their son, Kite. From Storm to James, their family horses. She loves all of them. She wouldn't hurt any of them unless absolutely needed. And she would never betray them. Because, that day when Melange had lost everything, she had gained everything as well. She has a new life, a new home and a new family.

That's all she needs. She only needs a family. She doesn't need new parents, nor new siblings. She has them all right here and she loves it. She doesn't need to worry about anything. You know why?
Because she has them right here.

And she will never trade this for the world.
