"He's...fast? How fast?"

Mantis' voice was so soft and innocent. I nodded furiously in response, "Incredibly fast. And incredibly handsome. And his accent..."

Gamora rolled her eyes. "Come on, Y/N.  Do not be bewitched by the boy's way of speaking!"

The girls and I were video-chatting, via my Nova Corps tablet.  I applied more eyeshadow as we spoke. "I'm not bewitched," I disagreed, trying to defend myself, "I'm just...curious. He could of fought back, but he just ran off after he winked at me."

Mantis' eyes lit up in wondrous delight. "Winked!  Oh...What is winked?"

I winked at her, and she started blushing. "Oh, my. This is a..flirting technique?"

Gamora crossed her arms in disapproval. "Mm-hm, flirting 101.  This boy is more trouble than Quill, Y/N."

"I know, he is the enemy.  But good gods, girls, Pietro was so hot..." I gushed, sighing.

"Who's hot?" Clint's voice came from behind my bedroom door with fatherly enthusiasm. "Are you talking about Steve again? Tsk, tsk, tsk."

I groaned, glaring at the door. "Gotta go, ladies.  I miss you."

"Miss you too, Y/N," Mantis said.  Gamora smiled at me as she ended the call, waving her hand as a goodbye.

I shoved my Nova Corps tablet into the hidden compartment in my vanity, then stormed over to my door.  Opening it forcefully, I rolled my eyes. "What do you want, Dad?"

Clint chuckled. "Party's starting soon, I wanted to make sure you were ready." He glanced over my outfit and furrowed his eyebrows. "That's pretty short, don't you think?"

"No, I don't think that," I replied coldly, looking down at my dress proudly. "Besides, it's not like I'm interested in anyone at this stupid party and flirt my way to every pair of pants that walk by..."

Clint shook his head. "Don't talk like that, Y/N." He cocked his eyebrow and grinned suggestively. "But seriously, were you talking about Steve?"

Slamming my door, I yelled a firm, "No!"

I made my way to the penthouse lounge, where the party was being held. As usual, I made sure to be fashionably late; 15 minutes or so.

I walked down the glass stairway as partygoers awed at my entrance.

Peter Quill's ego must have rubbed off on me, I quite liked the attention.

My mind was still on Pietro, though.  I pictured him in a sleek tux, standing near the bar, offering me a drink...

"Y/N!" Thor's loud voice boomed, "The glorious warrior-woman has arrived!" He raised his glass kindly at me, while others followed.  I smiled happily at Thor, sending him a tiny wave before walking towards Steve, greeting party guests on the way.

Steve was near his friend Sam, a goofy but polite man.  Sam and I had only met a few times, but he and I had gotten close in the small time we'd known each other.

"Sam! Steve! Hello, boys," I hugged them both.  Sam, a side hug, and Steve a full, proper hug.  His arms felt nice around me.

"Y/N, you look beautiful, as always," Sam complimented, patting the dress' gold accents on my shoulders. "Dang! Whoever designed this had you in mind!"

Steve chuckled and handed me an empty glass. "What are you drinking, Y/N?"

I shook my head. "I don't like the alcohol here on Terra. It's...weak."
