Let's Cut The Cake

Ashlen Pov.

Today was Ma's birthday and Dad had a get together for her.

All the kids, grandkids, family and friends was there.

"Happy birthday ma, love you."  Vonte said kissing her cheek before sitting down.

"Thanks sweetie." She replied.

"Happy birthday Mommy I love you." I said continuously kissing her cheek before I also sat down.

"Ma say cheese." Aiden said trying to take a picture from where he was sitting. She turned and smiled at him to take the picture.

"Hold on Ava is calling, she wants to talk to you." Aiden said getting up to hand the phone to her.

While he was going towards her, Stephen came in with the kids . He wasn't really looking up to par. His hair needed to be cut and he needed to shave, but yet he was still dressed appropriately and didn't look strung off drugs or anything. Just looked tired.

"Hey mommy." The kids said running to me after greeting and hugging ma and dad.

"Hey babies." I said hugging them. They then went over to Vonte to give him a hug.

Ashley sat next to me and said to me quietly "Mommy are we going back with you."

"No, you're staying with your dad for the weekend, why you wanna come back home."

"Daddy is boring now, all he does is stay in his room and never wanna play."

"Oh ok, we'll see." I said.

"We'll see if we can come?"
"Yea babe." I said

Stephen was just sitting at the table quietly. He sat across from Vonte and I could feel the tension.

"Where's my gifts" Ma said laughing.

"Me coming is a gift." Aiden said.
"Yea what he said." Ansley and I cosigned.

"Oh wow." Ma said laughing.

"The gifts are behind you babe." Dad said.

"You know we gotta get ya something ma" I said.

"Yal ain't crazy." She replied.

"Yea we wasn't tryna take the guilt trip." Aiden said.

"Well lets sing happy Birthday to my lovely wife." Dad said.

" You got that one August Alsina." Aiden said as we laughed.

"Ok let me stop playing let's sing." Aiden said.

We all sung happy birthday and began to eat.

Vonte was being normal, showing affection like always. Not like trying to make Stephen mad, it's just stuff he usually does and I didn't even think he was tryna make Stephen mad. But everything Vonte did bothered the hell out of Stephen and Vonte didn't even notice.

Everybody was just enjoying each other and telling memories they shared with ma.

" ohh Ashley was a shy and antisocial something growing up, we use to call her mouse, cause she never left her room. She only came out at night to get food." Ma's Cousin said.

"I think we all forgot that mama can really sing, like she blows." I said as ma's cheeks got red.

"Well I didn't , we always singing around the house."Dad said.

"Ma you should have followed your dreams and not settled for what was your comfort zone." I said .

"Yea you're right." She said sighing.

Meanwhile , Stephen was already paying for his food and getting ready to leave.

"Happy birthday Ma, I love you , I enjoyed the food and I apologize in advance ." Stephen said calmly.

Ma said "Thank you and love you too." In confusion trying to understand why he was apologizing. We were all wondering what he was apologizing for .

Next thing you know, he jumped across the table and started beating on Vonte.

Vonte pulled him off the table slanging him on the wall they just fighting . I'm yelling "Stop!" My dad, God dad, and Klay was tryna help pull them apart. Everyone was in shock, Aiden was in between being shocked and thinking it was funny.

God dad grabbed Vonte while Dad grabbed Stephen.

"I TRUSTED YOU NIGGA!" Stephen yelled as dad was tryna get him out the room .

"I TRUSTED YOU AROUND MY WIFE AND KIDS! I OPENED MY HOUSE UP TO YOU! YOU KNEW WHAT YOU WAS DOING, YOUR WHOLE PLAN WAS TO GET MY WIFE BACK ! YOU TOOK MY WIFE FROM ME!" He yelled as he was holding on to the door while dad was tryna pull him out.

"You set yourself up nigga! If you wasn't so insecure and appreciated and wasn't beating on my FIANCÉ when you had her, you wouldn't be in this predicament! Pussy Ass Nigga." Vonte responded.

Stephen tried to come back for more but Dad had a tight grip on him. Before Dad left with Stephen he said "This was uncalled for, on your mother's birthday? Really?"

"Nobody told you to invite him. You knew there awas pressure between them, but yet you still brought him." I said.

"Yal too grown for this shit!" Dad said before leaving with Stephen.

"I'm sorry about this, I wish this didn't happen." Vonte said to Ma.

"It's fine." Ma said looking disappointed.

"So let's cut the cake!" Aiden said changing the subject."
