The ocean sparkled in the night, but the boy dancing in front the water made the beach come to life

It was the way he swayed his hips just enough to make it look like an innocent act
The way he laughed with his head thrown back, the collar of his shirt slipping down just slightly

Sand stuck to his feet as he danced without a care in the world

Taehyung sat at a distance away from the intoxicated boy watching him with interest as he was sat in the middle of empty beer cans and wrappers of candy they managed to grab

The waves crashed in the background mixing in with Jeongguks loud singing
"Oh baby it's you," alcohol made the words come out slurred as they were sung

With one hand holding his black shoes and,as cheesy as it sounds, snatching Taehyung's heart in the other Jeongguk spun with his arms thrown in the air, "dance with me!"

Taehyung looked doubtful
"I don't think that's a good idea Jeonggukie"

"Taehyung don't be a party pooper," he said with a childish pout, "just get off your butt and dance with me"

The pout always got the older into doing what the other wanted

He agreed reluctantly, "I will in a minute"

"Fine but," a finger was pointed towards him, "you better keep your promise"

Taehyung crossed his index over his heart and grinned

"I promise"

Jeongguk smiled happily saying a small "good" going back to his own tipsy world

They used to always do this, getting drunk on the beach (where they met) once it turned dark and made fools out of themselves for their amusement while whispering promises to never leave each other, but those nights came to an end

They grew up and arguments over soulmates brewed

Soulmates

Most people were born with a charm that dangled on a chain around their neck
but a handful were not

Jeonguk was included in that handful

Taehyung however was born wearing a silver chain necklace with a tiger charm hanging on it

Luckily that never disturbed what the two shared until Taehyung met Namjoon
who was a tall handsome guy Jeongguk could never compete with no matter how hard he tried
Namjoon who was Taehyungs soulmate

They fell apart

The conversations between them became short
and awkward until they stopped all together

Their bond broke

"What brought you to the party tonight?" Jeongguk stopped dancing to ask the gray haired boy that joined him

"Hoseok," he chuckled fondly at the thought of his friend, "didn't even give me a chance to put up a fight"

"Surprised Namjoon allowed you to step foot out of the house"

All of the sudden the weather got colder and the waves got louder

Taehyung sighed and ran a hand through his tousled hair, "Jeongguk don't start"

"No you need to listen," he said determined

"Jeong-"

"Stop! You have no right to just come up and drag me out away from my friends and expect me to pretend things are ok between us"

"I-"

"No you don't know, you don't," he said already predicting what was going to be said, "you left me Tae just stopped talking to me once Namjoon came and it hurt me"

The feeling of alcohol in his body caught up to him and his head felt heavy

"It hurt me so bad Tae and you don't know so don't try to make up some excuse to guilt trip me like you always do" he stormed away in the direction of the party

Taehyung followed close behind feeling hazy

"Jeongguk," his voice became louder

"Leave me alone"

"Jeongguk," he yelled and gripped onto the others elbow

It became silent
Both of their chests heaved up and down out of tiredness

Jeongguk stopped and turned around tilting his head up as he glared

"What?"

They stood still hypnotized with one another
Too preoccupied in the moment created neither of them registered how the space between them had decreased until they could feel the breath of the other hitting their face

"You never let me explain," he said with a hint of desperation

"What is there to explain? You let me go"

"I had to," he eyes showed guilt, "I would have chosen you if I had a choice"

"You had a choice Tae"
Jeonguk released a fragile breathe, his hands slightly shaking, "you had a fucking choice"

"He's my soulmate Jeonggukie," he said letting his voice come out softer

"Then why are you here Taehyung?"

"I missed you" he said so sincerely Jeongguk felt himself breaking

Jeongguk buried his head in the tallers chest and weakly punched the arm one of the arms wrapping around his waist
"I missed you too," he said in a broken sob, "you stupid jerk"

Taehyung tighten his grip, "I'm sorry"

"I'm tired of you saying sorry Tae" he lifted his head up to meet the olders eyes that were filled with tears

"What do say?"

"Say you wont leave again"

"I wont leave you"

Taehyung watched the male infornt of him for a few seconds before sinking his teeth down on Jeongguks bottom lip which was brushing against his, tugging it gently before letting go and pulling him closer
Jeongguk looked at Taehyung through his fringe with a light blush on his face and closed his eyes as Taehyung kissed him

He felt hands take his and lifted them up to Taehyung's necklace

His soulmate necklace
The kiss broke and Taehyung moved so his mouth was by Jeongguk's ear
"Go ahead," he whispered

The brown haired boy was hesitant waiting for Taehyung to change his mind and push him away, but no protest came

Without much thought he fiddled with the clasp of the piece of jewelry, the only thing bonding Taehyung with Namjoon, and unhooked it

It dropped onto the sand never to be picked up again as the two boys joined hands and started running
