Falling For Another Carter

Chapter 1

Natalie was sleeping in her room when she heard FRIDAY say "Ms Carter Mr Rogers would like to see you in the conference room in 10 minutes." 

"ugh he does realize it's going to be a little longer than that. I'm still in a knee brace." she whispered to herself. 

Natalie got herself up and hopping on one leg to the bathroom and pulled herself together. She hobbled out to the living room area of her suite. She was the only one in her suite and has been for the last two years. She grabbed her key card and her crutches and headed out the door towards the elevator. "Take me down Friday." she said as she pushed the close doors button. 

She got herself to the conference room were Steve was waiting. He said "Natalie good morning." 

"Good morning Steve. What do I owe this meeting for?" She said 

"I swear sometimes you sound like your aunt." He said with a smile 

She sat down in one of the chairs and propped her leg up on another chair and laid her crutches down. "Your physical therapist says that you are almost done with therapy we just need to get you to walk on your knee again." Natalie bit her lip and said "I know." 

"But that's not why I called you down here. Um I was wondering if you would like to go with me." Steve said 

"On a mission? I would love to go on a mission Steve please I'm tired of being in this compound with nothing to do." She said with a smile 

"Not a mission but I do need someone to go with me to Wakanda. I'm bringing Bucky home." Steve said 

"Then why not ask one of the people that have met him to go with you. Why me?" She said as she laid her down on the table.

"Because of your last name. Bucky is slowly becoming the Bucky I know him to be but he's still nervous about coming back here and I figured that since you are a Carter that maybe he will feel a little bit more at ease especially since you do favor your aunt a lot." Steve said 

"You know I have heard that my whole life. People thought that I was her daughter. But yes I will go with you if you need me to." Natalie said 

"Good we leave in an hour get ready." Steve said as he helped her up and picked up her crutches and she hobbled out and back to her room. 

Natalie got herself in her suit and got her gear together. She braided her brunette hair into a loose side braid and put on some red lipstick. "Alright Natalie Ann let's go." she whispered to herself. She hobbled onto the helipad where Steve was waiting for her with the quinjet and said "See there is Peggy ." she started to laugh and said "Because I put on red lipstick." He smiled and said "Yes she loved to wear red lipstick." 

She sat down in the co pilot seat and said "Steve do you really think that because of my last name he's going to fell comfortable I mean you did say my aunt turned him down when he asked her to dance." Steve started to laugh and said "I think so." 

They landed in Wakanda and Steve helped her up and let her get her balance with the crutches. Then they headed towards T'Challa and Shuri. 

"It's good to see you both again." Steve said as they shook hands

"It's good to see you as well. It's also good to see you up and moving Ms Carter." T'Challa said 

"Thank you T'Challa it feels good to be up and out of the compound." Natalie said 

"Is he ready?" Steve said to Shuri

Then everyone heard behind T'Challa and Shuri "Ready as I will ever be." Bucky was walking up behind them with his bag. He gave Steve a hug and said "It's good to see you Steve."  

"It's good to see you Buck." Steve said. Then Bucky seen Natalie and said "Whose the girl? Cause I know that I'm not seeing a ghost." 

"Bucky this is Natalie Carter." Steve said

"Natalie Carter. Carter as in Peggy Carter's daughter?" Bucky said. Natalie started to laugh and shake her head and said "Try Niece Bucky I'm her niece my dad was her brother. I'm Sharon's little sister." 

"It's nice to meet you Natalie." Bucky said 

They all 3 got on the quinjet. Bucky wanted so badly to ask her what happened to her but he figured it was probably best to wait for a better time. Steve flew the quinjet back to the compound when they landed they both helped Natalie off the jet. 

Steve pushed the button to Natalie's floor and said "I forgot to tell you this morning Natalie Bucky is going to be your room mate." She laughed and said "I figured as much I'm the only one who doesn't have one." 

They got to her floor and she used her key card to open her door then FRIDAY said "Welcome Ms Carter and Mr Barnes." 

"Ok so I took the liberty of going to the store for you Bucky to get you clothes and stuff for your bathroom Natalie was suppose to be do it but as you can tell it's hard for her to get around right now." Steve said 

"Thanks Steve." Bucky said as he laid his bag on his bed. 

"ok well supper is at 6 so don't be late you two." Steve said as he left. 

Bucky sat in his room when he heard a crutch fall to the floor and then heard her whisper "Shit." He walked out of his room and said "Natalie do you need help?" 

"Um well I um." She said she was trying to change out of her suit by herself. He walked over to her room and said "its ok I won't look." when she whispered "I was just changing to get out of my suit." She was only able to get it half way down. He closed his eyes and pulled it down and off of her carefully. She said "here's my shorts." She hands them to him and he helped her get her shorts on. He was able to open his eyes and she said "Thank you." 

He sat up on her bed beside her and said "Shouldn't you have a boyfriend that is suppose to help with this stuff." She let out a small laugh and said "No boyfriend. When I got hurt he kinda was cheating and that's why he um didn't come see me or anything. Natasha and Sharon have been taking turns staying out on the couch to help." 

"Oh wow someone doesn't know who they were messing with. Cause I knew your aunt she was a spitfire." Bucky said 

Natalie tucked some hair behind her ear and said "I know she was. She would be disappointed in me right now that's for sure." She looked up at Bucky with tear filled eyes.

"Hey darlin what's wrong? Why would she be disappointed in you?" Bucky said 

"I um I've been kinda not doing what she always told me to do growing up." She said as she picked up her crutches when she seen it was 545. "We have supper in 15 minutes we have to go downstairs. Before I forget this one is yours." She hands him his access key card with his name on it. He helps her up and she starts to go out the door he's right behind her as they head down to supper. 

"If you don't feel comfortable sitting at the table we can sit here at the bar top.' She said to him and he said "I think I would like that." They both ate supper at the bar top Scott and Hope had made Chicken Parmsean and it was delicious. Steve came over to Natalie and Bucky and said "You get settled in Buck?" 

"Yeah somewhat." Bucky said

Natalie was done she was about to try and get up but Bucky took her plate and his plate to the sink. She whispered "thank you." Steve said "Have you showed him the training room and gym Natalie?" She shook her head no. "You need to show him around Natalie." She got down out of the bar stool on her good knee and started to get her balance but lost it and Bucky caught her. 

She started to cry. "Hey you know what how about we go back upstairs and you can show me around tomorrow ok. You are getting tired I can tell." Bucky said to her as he helped her get her balance and then picked her up and said "Hey Steve get her crutches." Bucky laid her down in her bed and propped her knee up with a pillow once they got up to their suite.
