James' pov
"Jordan and James Castillo?" Officer Blosky asked as Jordan and I we're walking back to our jobs after breakfast.
"Yes?" Jordan asked as we turned to face him.
"I'm gonna need you to follow me." He replied looking me straight in the eye.
We've been sitting in this conference room for about 10 minutes now and I'm starting to sweat.
I felt Jordan squeeze my hand probably trying to reassure me that everything is going to be okay. But what if it's not? What if they separate us. What if something happens to Jordan... or me, or Brody. What if Jordan does something wrong again and has to come back to this horrid place.
I was knocked out of my thoughts when I heard the door open.
"James." Jennifer said smiling at me. "Jordan." she said blandly looking at her papers.
Let me tell you something, Jennifer doesn't like Jordan as much as she does me. She also knows that Jordan is more of a troublemaker than me.
"This is Christine Dickenson, she is the lady that is okay with you guys staying with her and her family." she continues "I know it might be hard for you-" she was cut off.
"We'll be fine." Jordan said. "Nice to meet you Mrs. D." she said to Christine holding out her hand.
"Oh please, call me Christine." she said, "Are you guys twins?" she asked Jordan and I.
"Oh no," Jordan started, "James is a couple hours older than me." she finished. Wow, typical Jordan.
1 hour later
"So make yourselves at home- oh would you guys like to share a room or two separate rooms?" Christine asked us.
"We would um actually like to share a room." I answered before Jordan could.
"Oh. Now he speaks." Jordan said smirking.
"Okay then, follow me." Christine says.
We follow her to a very very nice room with two beds on either side of the room and a window in between. Its almost like a big downtown LA apartment just without the kitchen. So picture this, right when you walk into the room you walk down a very very very very very short hallway. Then when you turn (By turn I mean if you turn either direction.) you see a staircase that leads to a work area, or another floor but it's not too high up.
As we were unpacking Jordan turned on some music and I couldn't help but to listen very closely to the words:
Hope is just a ray of what everyone should see
Alone is the street where you found me.
I couldn't quite relate or figure out what it meant but I'll figure it out sooner or later. But then I listen to some of the other words:
Live with what you have now and make the best of what's to come
That's something to live up to.
"Hey Jordan." I said.
"Yeah?" she answered.
"What song is this?" I asked hoping for an accurate answer.
She looked at her phone. "Tell me a story by Phillip Phillips." she answered once again.
I heard the door open downstairs.
"Hey mom." someone yelled. His voice was high, almost as if he was gay.
"Yeah, hey ma." Another one said. This one had a deeper voice, but it was kinda sexy.
"Do you wanna go meet them?" Jordan asked me.
I thought for a moment, "Yeah." I finally said.
When we got downstairs I spotted people in the kitchen. "Jordan, James. This is Ian," Christine said motioning to a tall boy with shaggy, curly-ish brown hair, he looked kinda mad, "And coincidentally this is... James." she said motioning to the other boy. He too, had shaggy brown hair, but his was straight... and I couldn't help but notice that he was wearing make-up.
"Are these your children, Mrs. D?" Jordan asked walking toward them to get a good look.
"Yes, and please, call me Christine." Christine answered.
"No thanks, Mrs. D." Jordan replied.
Christine looked at me with a look that said, 'is she always like this?', I just shrug at her signaling that she'd get used to it.
I think Jordan likes this Ian kid, because she's obviously flirting. I shoot her a look that says, tone it down a bit, and to my surprise, she actually listens.
"So Christine," I start, "Are we gonna have to go to school?" I ask.
She looks at me questioningly for a second then says, "Well your going to have to at some point... how about tomorrow, I take you and Jordan to the store and get some supplies. School started last week so there should still be some stuff." She answers.
That was probably one of the longest answers I've heard in my life.
