[SPENCER]
Flats are definitely not my style... I think to myself as I sit on the steps of the library and rub my feet.
"Spencer?"
I raise my head up, not hearing the voice of Aly but Andrew Bennett... aka Professor Bennett. For a professor, he was young and one of UPenn's most prestigious graduates for having graduated early and at the age of 24.... He was also very prestigious in one-night stands. I look down at what I'm wearing and blush at how plain l look.
So much for being sexy...
"Dr. Bennett," I nod my head in acknowledgment.
He snickers which causes my heart to stop.
"Spencer, it's me.. and there's no one around. You can address me as your boyfriend."
Fuck his blue eyes and that golden blonde hair.
"I kinda have plans today... and since when have I become your girlfriend? Wasn't Jackie on your mind last week?.."
The six foot tall brood male frowns in defeat, "That... was a mistake."
He looks at me, his blue eyes lightening up with pain. I sigh. The past memory of him has pained me for weeks, and I've waited so long to throw it back in his face. However, now any form of love towards him has morphed into hatred. Along the sidewalk I see the blonde curls of Aly bouncing in the wind. I retrieve my purse and gain my composure as I turn to Andrew.
"Dr. Bennett," I hold my hand out, "I'll see you in British Lit. class after the weekend."
He frowns, grabs my hand, and lifts my hand up, "Miss Bloome."
He plants a soft kiss on me and leaves me with unwanted chills. I roll my eyes, gaining my composure.
Aly finally walks up to me and we greet each other with mutual smiles. As I lead us up to the door, Aly stops and half-smiles at me.
"A student/teacher relationship... What a scandal!"
My eyes grow wide and I begin to feel cold.
"Don't worry," she stops, grabbing my arm, "I've got ears but I don't fuck with drama."
With those words coming out of her mouth, I sigh with relief.

We both ended up getting pumpkin spice frappaccinos and Aly continued to reminisce about Logan and her memories of them together. She added simple little facts about her as well, such as she works at the local hospital and that she's continuing to get her doctorate's degree here at UPenn.
"He never told me he took a creative writing class in undergrad school." Aly stated suspiciously.
"Uhh.. Really? I mean, maybe he was a little embarrassed? Not many men usually choose that kind of class as an elective."
Spencer, you really suck as an investigator.
"Yeah, I can see where you're coming from on that..."
I smile, relieved my white lie wasn't revealed.
"You said you were working that night they rushed Logan into the ER?"
Aly frowned and nodded. Her eyes started to become glossy with tears, and my heart began to drop for her. So much must have happened for her so quickly...
"Don't you think this is all too weird though?" I start.
"What do you mean?"
"The symbol and the note left in Ethans mouth... I'm sorry if I'm crossing a line on talking about this too soon but that symbol on the note, the note itself... It just doesn't seem normal I guess."Aly stops and looks down as if calculating her words in her mind.
"Aly?"
"You're not wrong Spencer... and, between you and me, when they brought him in that night, I snuck into the morgue to see him... Maybe it was to see his face again in hopes I could see the man who held my hand, full of life and what not... OR maybe it was fate."
A look of confusion is brought upon my face, "What do you mean?"
"I mean," Aly continues, "that the papers didn't get the whole story... Yes he had the note shoved down his throat... but they missed one thing."
"And what was that?"
Aly looked around the room, casually trying to sip on her frappe and then locked her dead eyes on me.
"What they missed was the carving the killer cut into Logan's arm. It was the symbol for a gemini."
My whole body lit up to hearing all this new information. I wanted to smile so badly but I had to stay in character.
"So what are you trying to say Aly?"
Aly lets out a sigh and then looks at me, "What I'm saying, Spencer, is that there's got to be more to this murder. I don't want this to happen to anyone else. A lot has happened to me and this is me wanting to take a stand... to find out more... to stop this madness."
Aly reaches into her purse and hands me a piece of paper. It was an article on the notorious Zodiac Killer.
"You think it's a copycat." I whisper, letting the words tremble on my lips.
"Spencer, I'm starting to believe we think alike. I know you don't know me well, but we both know this much: There's a killer on campus that could strike again, I work in a hospital, and you have the brains to do all the research in the world. Would you help me?"
You have the chance. Take it.
"Let's do it." I say.
We both smile as my phone starts to chirp. Aly's follows.
I unlock my screen to find a text:Let the games begin -⛎
"Aly.." I whisper, barely able to get the word out of my mouth.
I look up to see her flesh drained completely pale.
As she looks at me, I can confirm that we both got that same message.
