I feel myself sink in my chair, slightly. Standardized tests were never really my thing, even back in high school. I scan the room, and Kaizaki-san just gives me a smile, in an attempt to comfort me, although it doesn't work. I'm already feeling a bit of remorse at this point, since the test was starting to give me a panic attack. What kind of school does this all at once? But then again, this was a school for the rich, so I guess it sort of made sense. "So, Shouto. Mind explaining why you were at the music room?" I hear a kid from beside me half whisper. "U-uh, it's not important Kuramoto-san..." Shouto, the kid beside me says nervously. "Didn't I tell you to drop the formalities? I feel quite akward when you call me that. You could always just call me Kura, or whatever." I can't help but look beside me, over at this Kuramoto kid. Unbelievable how he came up with a name as ridiculous as "Kura". I could feel a bit of a giggle arise in me. The way he even said it was just so childish, and out of character.
"And what the hell are you lookin' at?" Kuramoto says, and I look him straight on. "Nothing, just you said 'Kura' out of nowhere, and I couldn't help but look." "I wasn't even talking to you, you little-" "K-Kuramoto-kun! Let's all try to get along!" Shouto interjects, trying to hide Kuramoto's snarkiness. "Whatever. Just don't do it again." He says, rolling his eyes. "Alright class! Let's get the test over with!" Kaoru-sensei says, holding up a bunch of papers in the air. "Make sure to have a writing utensil, and an eraser." I search my bag for a pencil, and eraser, and find one at the bottom of it with a note, in what looks like Kaizaki's hand writing.
Don't screw up like I did. -K
I sigh and can't help but glance at the note a second time. What does he mean by "Don't screw up?" I see a bunch of papers being passed behind me, and I grab one, passing it back to whoever was behind me. "You guys can start. If you need any help, please raise your hand" Kaoru-sensei says. I write my name on the front page, and then I look over at the grammar questions. It didn't seem like anything too hard. I whizzed by most of them, that is, until I saw the math questions. WHAT KIND OF EQUATIONS WERE THESE??
3x−y=12, what is the value of 8x2y?
A) 212
B) 44
C) 82
D) The value cannot be determined from the information given.I felt myself start to sweat, and I meant a lot! What kind of high school question was this anyways? I didn't know what to do, so I circled D), since I had no clue how to solve it. "Okay class, you have another 15 minutes left to finish the test." Oh crap.... I still had to finish up the rest of the math section. I was doomed!
...............................
I was relieved to have finished the standardized testing, since I almost drew a blank on those math questions. It was never my preferred subject, even back when I was in school, all those years ago. "Hey, can you move a little bit? There's no room at any other table besides this one." I look over at the girl and realize that it was the one who called me 'an idiot' when I was trying to look for a seat. I quickly slide over, so that I could avoid any conflict. "Thanks." I hear, and I nod. She was eating a bowl of rice, and I couldn't help stare at it. I didn't have a lunch, and Kaizaki must've forgot to give me today's allowance. "What are you looking at?" She says, a glare on her face. I must have been contemplating for a long time if she made a comment like that.
"Sorry. I was just hungry..." I say sheepishly, and she she scowls. "If you're hungry, then why don't you get your food!" she sort of half yells, and I sigh. "Look... I only recently moved here, and I didn't have time to look at the student handbook. All of this is confusing me, you know? It's hard to adjust, especially if you barely know anyone, but the neighbours..." For a second, I could see her glare become replaced with a more sympathetic look. "Well, if you line up, they give you free food. The handbook says that the school will provide each student with a proper meal." She says, more gently then the first time. I stand up, and proceed to head in line. While I'm in line, I can't help but wonder if we were gonna become friends today. Even so, I felt like that would be illegal, unless she herself said that we were gonna become friends. "Okay, next in line?"
(A/N: Hey guys! Here's chapter 3! I truly apologize for the long wait. School work just sucked most of my motivation right out of me! Not to mention the seemingly endless work that my teachers just love to pile up on us. But anyways, I'll try to update a little bit more, since summer is right around the corner for me! Until then, please be sure to like, leave a comment and vote! I'll see you all next report!)
