FALLOUT
FALLOUT AWAKEN
My head was all fuzzy so I took deep breaths until things started to clear up. When I could see again I found myself in a cryogen tube. All I remember is the war, the war that left the government in peril and split them into three factions, the Brotherhood, the Railroad, and the Institute. I had to make my escape! I soon discovered I had astonishing abilities in electro mechanics so I figured out the layout of my captors base. With a determination I have never felt before crawling through the mildew coated air vents. I pressed on with determination. After a few minutes I found a security guard, he was armed and by the mess hall food storage. He had to be taken out, I stuck to the shadows made my way carefully till I was right behind him. I put him in a headlock till he fell unconscious, I stole his weapon and took all the mags I could find, my blood ran cold as my eyes followed the giant black letters on the wall INSTITUTE. Then I knew I had to get out of there fast. I decided to follow my instincts and grab all the food, supplies I can carry. The complex seemed easy to get out of, too easy. Speed and stealth were the key to get out of here, wherever here was though. When I finally broke out I had a week's worth of food left and had to make the most of it for the long journey ahead. It was best to get as far away from them as possible. The week was harsh, I guessed it was about early winter by the way the trees looked, all naked and twisted with no leaves. What happened here? It was a wasteland as far as the eye could see, just nothing, no structures, no animals. From what I could tell the only living thing was the tree and I. I decided instead of sightseeing I should be continuing looking for my new home. I had just realized I don't even remember my name, I think I should call myself Jake. "Jake" my voice was roughly scratchy and deep, it surprised me to hear it. No time to waste, I was getting low on food and supplies, probably only two or three days until I'm out of supplies. My only option for survival was to find something. I searched and searched and searched until all my supplies were gone, I smelled like a dog that had died and came back to life. Tired, cold, and thirsty the hope of finding anything kept me going. I was not sure if this was a marriage but it was what appeared to be a building with old neon letters CIRCLE K. There had to be something useful in there. I went in to check it out and had my pistol fully loaded. In the structure, there were rows of food, batteries, water, and supplies! I immediately forgot about any danger and dove in eating and drinking sloppily. I heard a voice "hey you what do you think your doiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnggggggg" that last part was a scream. "Hello, who's there? I had my weapon out ready, a couple of laughs followed. This man must be crazy I thought. Out of nowhere he came at me with a rusty knife "rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr aaaaaaaahhhhhh" the crazy man yelled. I had tensed up and pulled the trigger, he dropped dead. I had a rush of emotions noooooooooo! I had sadness, anger, and guilt. My guilt won over all the others and I buried him. That moment hardened me, changed me forever. I had to find others who were sane and get some answers, who am I, what happened here, why. I took some boards and made a platform to pull extra food, water, and supplies around until I find a shelter to call home. I had more than a month's worth of food and some seeds to start a small farm of corn, beans, and squash. I did not leave until the next day because of a water tank, it was not drinkable but it was clean enough to bathe in it. I plundered around a little more and found some soap to clean myself I. It was pretty cold outside but I did not care as long as I was not looking like death. There was some cloths and rags to dry myself and I made some clothing for the winter weather. The journey was almost over since I had already found a form of settlement, I had came upon another structure about a day or two, it was an abandoned military hangar built into the rock I decided to check it out, this time have my gun loaded but not on the trigger just in case. As I approached it, it was in pretty good shape. Not that rusty on the barbed wire which would be pretty good for defense. As I entered base I noticed that this base was still wired to an electrical system and I flipped the switch and said "hello", no answer. I guess no one's home. The base wasn't that big, It had a refrigerator, some machine gun turrets with no ammo as far as I could tell, but they did have bullet casings littered around them. I took a look around, the other side of the base is where the other two buildings were. The first building I went in was supposed to be an armory, but the only things inside were some computer equipment, a deactivated protectron, and a suit of power armour that was behind a door locked so tight that I doubt I could open it. The other building was far more helpful, it had several full suits of X-01 power armour, some even had shoulder mounted missile racks, which one should I take (hears distant laser fire) what was that? It sounded close, too close. Knowing that I have a month's worth of food and supplies, I should just lie low for awhile.
