When they pass the Three Broomsticks, Remus stops.

"Do you want to go in? I could use a butterbeer."

Sirius nods his assent, and the boys walk in. Even though it's warm in the bar, when Sirius pulls away, Remus feels a chill. He knows it's awful for him if he ever wants to get over Sirius, but all he wants to do is get closer to him.

"Remus?"

Startled, Remus snaps back into reality.

"Yeah?"

Sirius smiles. "You were staring."

Remus abruptly looks away. "Sorry."

"No," Sirius reaches out and touches Remus's hand on the table between them. "It's okay."

Remus looks up at Sirius, with his wide gray eyes, his wind blown hair, his flushed cheeks and his soft, earnest smile... His chair screeches as he springs out of his seat.

"I'll go get us butterbeers," he mumbles. He stalks off to the bar so fast he doesn't see the crestfallen look on Sirius's face.
