I woke up to a soft breeze drifting through the hospital room. I shook my head to chase away the remnants of my dream and glanced around the room.  My cool blue eyes came to rest upon a figure, sat comfortably in a chair and their eyes glued to their phone. I couldn't make out who it was, my vision blurred from the pain medication.

"Tess?" I murmured. "What are you doing here? Its late."

A pair of beautiful green eyes peered up at me. It was Luke.

"Sorry, not Tessa. Just me." Luke chuckled softly and stood up. "I dropped by to see how you were holding up."

I smiled shyly and scooted over so he could sit on the bed beside me.

"I think I'm doing alright. The pain is still a little nippy but doc says ill be out in no time." I reply, my eyes scanning his outfit. He had paired a tight fitting black t-shirt with his signature navy jodhpurs. His shiny tall boots completed the look. Wow, he'll even wear them in a hospital.

"Im glad to hear that." He sent a smile in my direction and reached a hand towards my face. I held my breath.

His hand gently caressed my face, an explosion of butterflies erupting within me.

"Sorry, you had something on your cheek." He said softly and looked down to his lap. I sighed and glanced at how he sat comfortably beside me.

"Oh, by the way, how's Prince? Thanks again for taking him to your stables." I sat up straighter and looked curiously at Luke. He cleared his throat before speaking.

"He's just fine. He has a few small cuts that are healing up nicely but he still doesn't trust anyone. I've been trying to do some ground work with him, to keep him supple, but he's just not responding." Luke glanced up at me and his emerald eyes stared into my icy blue ones. I sighed and shifted my gaze down to my hands, tears threatening to spill out of them.

"I'm sorry for all of the trouble I've caused you. It must be pretty hard to run a business and look after a free-boarded horse too, right? I've got my cheque book over there so if you'll just write your price in, I'll-" Luke's laugh cut my sentence short. He stood and placed a gentle hand on the top of my head.

"Don't you worry your pretty little head about money, darling. I've got everything under control, so just focus on getting back on your feet, ok?" He flashed a goofy grin and stepped back, before picking up his coat off the arm of the chair.

After exchanging phone numbers, Luke gave me a small wave and slipped out of the door. I layed my head back on the cold pillow and let sleep take over my senses, the moment of Lukes touch replaying in my head.
