I wake up that Monday morning and sigh as I push myself up. I check my clock and growl.
"Crap, I'm gonna be late." I say and jump up.
I hurry up and pull on some clean clothes and pull my jacket on. I grab my book-bag and walk out of my room quickly and run outside. I pick my bike up as I pull my keys out and get on. I try to turn it on and clench my teeth in hope. It turns on and I smile. I kick the kick stand up and take off down the road. The sun was hidden by the clouds as soft breezes flew by. The wind ruffled my hair as I drove down the road towards the school. I turn into the school and slow down to a stop and park. People were laughing, gossiping, and, like always, fighting. The life of a teenager. I get off my bike and slip my bag onto my back as I walk towards the doors. Someone falls back and hits me in the side and turns to me quickly.
"Watch it kid!" He snaps
"Sorry, I was just walking past." I reply
He turns away quickly with a glare. I let out a small sigh and walk up the steps and into the school. The halls are packed with students from ninth grade and up. I'm a tenth grader myself. I walk to my first period class and sit down. Science isn't always my best subject but I get by with what I have. The teacher walks in and lays two jars on his desk and smiles.
"Today class, we will be dissecting frogs! So grab a partner and grab a tray from the shelf." He says
I groan and lay my head down. Students shuffle quickly and trays clink as they hit the tables. I hear some feet approaching me and I look up. A small girl stands in front of me with a tray and a small smile.
"Hi. My name is Alexis, but you can call me Lexi." She says
I watch her as she sits down beside me and scoots the tray to in-between us. The teacher smiles and starts handing frogs out to every student. He gives us our instructions and we start working. Alexis takes a scalpel and looks at me.
"Hunter right?" She asks and I nod
"Right, Okay, I'll need you to hold the toad here as I cut." She says
I move my hand to where she told me and hold the toad quietly. I watch her as she does the work. She finishes and the teacher starts drawing the parts of the toad on the board. I pull my hand away and watch him and look at her as she grabs the tweezers and starts searching around in the toad.
"This is actually very interesting. This isn't actually a frog, see this is a toad and you can tell my it's feet." She explains to me
'Oh great, a know it all' I think and roll my eyes lightly
We finish the project as the bell rings and I pick up my bag as I stand up. She stands up and gathers her things and walks with me out of the classroom.
"Is it okay if I tag along?" She asks
"Yea sure, I guess." I reply and she smiles brightly
We walk down the hall together silently. I walk past a jock and accidentally bump his shoulder, and his hand slams down on my books that I'm holding and they fall to the ground as papers fly out. I look at him and take a step back as I see him getting ready to throw a punch.
"I'll teach you a lesson." He says before his fist slams into my jaw.
