Chapter II

I drove to school, feeling the nervousness inside my stomach. The buildings were huge, with students walking everywhere, not caring to look if cars were coming. I parked my car, grabbing my backpack from the backseat. I sighed, not feeling too ready to start to new school year at a new school. Everyone looked cocky, as if they were too good to be at this school. I rolled my eyes, looking down at my schedule to see where I need to head over to. I walked down the hallway, hearing the school bell start to go off.

My mind and my eyes started wondering everywhere. I was so confused and frustrated that I was unable to find my first class. If this is how it was going to be for the rest of the day, I'd rather skip school. Tempted but I knew my parents would find out. I bit down on my bottom lip, walking toward the last class. I found it non other than at the other end of the school. Just my luck.

I held onto my backpack strap, taking in one deep breath. I opened the door, making my way in. I could feel every single pair of eyes on me. I was not able to turn my head to look at everyone. I looked up at the teacher, making my way over to her.

I whispered, "Hi, my name is Olivia. I'm new to the school so I got a little lost on my way over."

She smiled a genuine smile, nodding her head. "Don't worry about it. I usually give students a few minutes to get settled so more students could make their way over. You're fine. I'm Mrs. Sanders."

"Nice to meet you. Promise not to be late again."

"I believe you. Have a seat please." She gave me back my scheduled as she pointed to an empty seat at the end.

I turned around, making my way over. My eyes came across a familiar pair that I knew oh so well. It was neighbor. I cracked a small smile, as his eyes followed me until I sat down. I looked up at him as I placed my backpack down. He waved at me, as I waved back. His friend gestured over at me, as both of them stared. I blushed, looking over at the teacher.

"Charlie," she spoke. "Eyes forward, please. I am hoping you'll make an effort this year."

He chuckled, "I can't promise anything. Seeing as it is senior year."

"And that is why I am saying you should make an effort. College."

Charlie shrugged, crossing his arms over his chest. He glanced over at me, making me blush one more time. And it would repeatedly happen throughout the class. I tried ignoring him but he was so -- handsome. It was hard to ignore him. The last time he smiled, I bit down on my bottom lip. I tend to when I'm nervous. He winked over at me.

The bell rang. I quickly stuffed my things into my backpack, seeing him slowly do it. I stood up, making my way out of class. I was not going to talk to him, not a chance. I wanted to get through my day. I did.

The rest of my school day was a breeze. I was able to get to all of my classes. The day had seemed to drag on but I could feel the coolness of being able to manage -not only the rest of the day- but the rest of the school year. I stuffed the last few things inside my locker, only grabbing the essential books that I will be needing for the night. I made my way over to my car, seeing Charlie from a distance. I felt his eyes on me but I was not willing to look over. I brushed the hair off my shoulder, accidentally looking over. He was watching me, as a girl clung onto his neck. She looked preppy, a little girly, with a hint of snobbiness. And it wasn't me exaggerating, someone passed by her and she just gave her the meanest looks.

I had made it to my car, turning it on quickly. I sprung out of school as quickly as I could. I wanted to just get home so I could start doing my homework. My house was only a short few feet when my phone began to ring. I parked the car, pulling my phone out of my bag. Annie's name showed onto the screen.

I screeched, unlocking my phone to answer. "I am so excited you're calling me!" I got out of my car, fixing the strap of my purse on my shoulder.

"Hey, girl, hey! How's the new school?" She yelled through the phone. I could tell she was excited but genially that was always how Annie was.

"It's good. I haven't met anyone new but I think that's going to be the best for me. You know how I dislike making new friends."

"You have to at least try to talk to someone. It's not going to hurt you."

"No, I'm being serious. I do not intend on making any new friends. It's the best for me just to mind my own business and get the year over with. I'm exhausted already even thinking of how my year will be without you by my side."

She giggled. "Girl, I know. Trust me, I wish you could be here with all of us. This was going to be our year. It's going to be so weird not to share everything with you that we had basically planned since kindergarten."

I chuckled, remembering all the sweet memories with her. I swear everything had turned 360 when my parents decided to move. Granted, I was very mad since it was my last year of high school. I was suppose to graduate with Annie and we were going to plan on going to prom together.... everything.

"Yeah, well, things tend to happen without our control." I made my through my room. I threw my stuff onto my bed, leaning against my window. The day was so beautiful today. "I"m just hoping you are just going to enjoy the rest of the year... for the both of us.  I have to go. I need to start doing this one page paper that's due by tomorrow. Text me. I won't be away from my phone."

"I know. I know. You and your studies. I'll text you later. Love you, girl. Miss you!"

I smiled, feeling the emotions start to build up within me. "I miss you too, Annie. Bye"

I hung up my phone, staring out the beautiful warm weather. I looked over and Charlie was right there, staring right at me. I smirked, shyly waving at him. He gestured for me to open my window. I did.

"Hi," he smiled.

"H-Hi," I shyly replied.

"Olivia, right?" I nodded. He grabbed a chair without taking his gaze off of me. "You're pretty, Olivia. Glad to know my neighbor isn't some creepy, old lady."

I chuckled. "I don't think your girlfriend would be too pleased with you saying those types of things to someone you hardly even know."

"Girlfriend? Oh, you're talking about Ari. She's not my girlfriend. We dated in the past but it never tended to workout."

"What a shame."

"Not for me. Or else, I wouldn't be able to talk to you." The butterflies started swirling around in my stomach. His beautiful hazel eyes were so hypnotizing. I couldn't keep my eyes off of them. "Looks like I make you nervous."

I shook my head. "N-no! I just- never mind."

"What? Tell me."

"I just really like your eyes. They are really nice."

He smiled, picking at something in his hand. "Thank you. I have to say the same thing about your's. Very bright blue."

I blushed. Jesus, can I not be more obvious about feeling this way? I barely know the guy. "Um, I have to get going on my homework. It was nice talking to you, Charlie."

"You too, Olivia."
