'You were always mine.' His lips trailed a blazing path down my neck to my collar bone. I let my head fall back with a moan. All it took was one kiss and I was putty in his hands.
"Mason..." I whimpered as his hand slid up the side of my thigh.
"Kat you're the best thing that ever happened to me. Please let me love you." Mason's hot breath tickled my ear. His seductive cologne and his fiery touch were all I could take.
I was his that night...

I woke up suddenly with a gasp; my heart pounded in my chest. It was just a dream.
A hot...
sexy...
no--a revolting dream.
I shook my head and reluctantly sat up in bed. The sun wasn't even up yet. My phone clocked 5:24am.
I decided to start my day then. No use in trying to fall back asleep. Instead I chose to put on my running shoes and go for a run. Running always helped clear my head.
I had to be at work around 7:30 so I had plenty of time to go around the block a few times before coming home to get ready.
I stepped out and was greeted with a brisk gust of wind. Fall was here and it showed. The air was cooler and less humid. The trees danced around with new colors. Pumpkin spice was everywhere. I couldn't tell you how many pumpkin spiced coffees and lattes I made yesterday.
I plugged in my headphones and set my playlist to shuffle. The first song was "Shotgun" by Dj yellow claw. I let my music guide my rhythm. I settled into a steady jog with 30-second sprints here and there.
I couldn't help but think of Mason. I knew I'd see him today. He'd be back to bug me. Honestly I should've kept my big mouth shut yesterday. So what if he didn't recognize me? It was probably better that way. Not like I was anything or anyone important to him. Just another one of his victims from high school.
I won't let him push me around. Not again. I'm not an insecure 16-year-old anymore. I'm 24 now with a lot more experience. Besides, my life was overall pretty good. I didn't need a guy like Mason Taylor to ruin it. He'd already done that once before.
I had been in love with Mason since I met him in middle school. He had no idea I existed until I literally ran into him in high school.
*****
'I was running late to 3rd period. If I was late one more time Mr. Seguino was going to give me detention. As if algebra wasn't painful enough, I had Satan as a teacher.
I was doing my best to juggle my bag, my bulky binder and of course my leg always got in the way. I rounded a corner and just like a cliché, I ran right into the guy that made the world melt away.
"Oof!" We both fell to the floor and the contents of my binder spewed out everywhere.
"Hey! Watch where you're going!" The guy I ran into said angrily.
"Oh my god! I'm so sorry!" I immediately apologized.
"Oh! Shit! That looks like it hurts. Are you okay?" He said at the same time.
I looked over and realized it was Mason. He was gawking at my leg. My leg had tangled with his and my ankle was twisted unnaturally. I moved my leg out of his line of sight to adjust myself and scrambled around to gather my belongings.
"Oh, uh, yeah I'm fine. I have to get to class."
"Are you sure you're okay? You don't want me to call the nurse?" Mason said to me kindly as he helped me gather my papers off the floor.
