Unrequited Hug

I was upset and tired, we had more than 3 hours in this house and had been through a lot and apparently tonight wasn't going to end yet, we were still only Ethan and me. I noticed he was very aware of me, and who wouldn't be after seeing one of my friends die in front of my eyes, I just hope the others are okay.

The lights began to fail and then proceeded to go off, we walk in the dark trying to find a door, I stretch my arms and my hands trying to locate a door, but it just felt empty, until suddenly I touched something different.

- Ethan, I think I found a door. I'm not sure, it feels like wood, but ... has a rare ... curves ... and some holes -. I said before giving a little jump back and ask myself what the hell I just touch.

I try to focus my vision but I couldn't see anything through the darkness, I look for Ethan, but I didn't feel him close, until the lights were turned on and he came towards me noticing my confused and frightened face.

- Ness! What's going on? I thought you found a door, but ... you're in the middle of the hallway. - Ethan said.

- I touch something.... something.... of wood ... With curves and holes..... - I said a little scared.

- There's nothing there Ness - Ethan replied.

- I swear It was there Ethan, I felt it with my hands and..... No lit disappear - I said.

It wasn't there; whatever it was I was touching it wasn't there, I just know it wasn't a door and that scares me even more, I grabbed Ethan's hand and squeezed him very hard.

We walked a little opening doors and finding empty rooms, except for a door that we observe in the distance, on the floor there was a red puddle coming from the insides of that room, obviously we decided not to open it, we didn't want to see what was inside of that room.

We started walking again, we were near the stairs that went to the second floor, when we began to hear footsteps coming down, we could see Derek helping Katy walking downstairs, but someone came before them someone else.... A child?

Suddenly I could see that the boy started running towards us, what was doing a child here? Ethan hugged him and looked at me with sadness, who was this child? I look ahead and saw Derek and Katy at the end of the ladder. I smiled at them, but I could see concern in their faces. Katy began to come faster.

-Ness! Ethan! We have to tell you something - Katy said something stirred.

- What's going on Katy? - I said curiously.

- We have to find Lilith and Harry, they know what is happening here - Derek said as he handed us a sort of pictures.

Derek gives us a picture and we looked at it, it was a photo of Lilith and Harry in the living room, they were kids, but.... Wait a minute! , What's that behind them? It's a wooden mannequin? ; it looks like what was behind Lilith and disappeared with her, what's happening here? We look to the other picture and it was a drawing of a mannequin and a girl holding hands and it said "Friends Forever".

- What's this supposed to mean? - Ethan asked confused.

- I don't know, but I bet they do - Katy said with great confidence.

- And this child? - I ask.

- Is the brother of Harry, Jake, I don't know what is he doing here - Derek said.

- Jake do you know what this is? - Ethan asked, showing him the photo of his brothers as he pointed to the mannequin.

- That it's there, it was what was on the third floor - Jake said with a small voice.

- Ethan he doesn't knows, I don't even understand why Harry left him alone. - said Derek.

- Well, he wasn't alone; he was with his nanny Annabeth that stopped moving after the first blackout -Katy said and she made us signs that the nanny was dead.

- You're right Derek, Harry is always very aware of Jake and this time he made a party with him at home, that's very weird - Ethan said.

- Quiet Jake, we'll protect you - I said with a sweet smile to Jake.

I didn't know him, but he was just a kid, we had to take care of him. Out of nowhere Derek opened a door, which was another great hallway a little more spacious than the other, we tried to see if we could find any of the guys when the lights began to fail.

- LILITH! - We heard Jake yelled as he ran forward.

We looked in the direction which led Jake and there was what appeared to be Lilith, her clothing was somehow broken, but she looked perfectly ... but she look grim, Jake came up and hugged her, Lilith didn't return the hug and that's when we noticed she wasn't even looking.

Her look was stable on a point on the ground, we all approach and the lights failed again at that moment behind Lilith there was the mannequin, Derek was a little behind me and Ethan as he helped Katy to walk.

-Lilith? - I ask with my voice a bit broken.

Lilith didn't responded, she didn't even looked at us, it didn't look like her. I felt the need to pull Jake towards me, we needed to get out of here, from nowhere Lilith lift her arm and pointed towards us, the mannequin began to move in our direction.

I took Jake and Ethan's arm, I didn't know where I was taking my strength but it wasn't the time to think about it, Derek noticed the situation and he seek how to run with Katy, we ran but felt the sound coming to us, the steps of the mannequin behind us, moving so slow yet so fast, I look back and it wasn't at the end of the hallway it was Lilith in the same manner in which we had left her.

At this point we look ahead and all of a sudden stopped running, because in front of us was the mannequin, mostly in front of Derek and Katy, then I just felt Jake's breath who hugged me tightly, from one moment to another everything went dark.

I heard a scream that I thought it was Katy, followed by the sound of something hitting what I assumed it was a door and a small scream of pain, then something hit the ground to be pulled away, I couldn't see anything I only hugged Jake and Ethan stronger, then the lights came on and we were only Ethan, Jake and me, no one else, on the floor there was some blood, but not enough to leave a trail, there were more like drops of a red scarlet liquid.
