Everyone shouted and cheered as two guys from the circle kissed each other. They quickly retreated back to their spots in the circle, vigorously rubbing their hands over their mouths. Like that would cleanse their mouths, I thought as I giggled to myself. Now it was my turn to spin the bottle, Aiden the guy from earlier who I had run into, was standing in the corner observing me as I played. It didn't creep me out as much as you would think, he was like a guardian angel. He hadn't spoken to me since our encounter, just watched me like he said he would. I leaned forward and spun the bottle as hard as my drunken self could before leaning back into my spot.
I took a huge gulp of my beer and anticipated where the bottle would stop. Aurora was next to me, along with the guy she'd been dancing with all night, they hadn't left each other's side. I could tell that they were really hitting it off. The green beer bottle came to a slow stop, landing on a guy with blonde hair and brown eyes. He wasn't the cutest of the group, and he was definitely a college freshman. His eyes widened, he looked so innocent and nervous as he looked at me and then pointed to himself. "Come here kid," I slurred as I crawled across the circle to him. I closed my eyes and puckered my lips waiting for contact. But before anything could happen I opened my eyes and saw the blonde kid being thrown out of the way by Aiden. What the hell? Before I could yell at Aiden for ruining the game, he once again stormed off. "What's your problem!" I yelled after him while I watched his retreating back covered in a dark grey shirt.
I'm starting to get tired of his bad attitude. I considered running after him and demanding he tell me why he was being irrational, but I was too drunk to care enough. Also it was becoming quite the task to walk straight. My legs wobbled slightly every time I walked and my head felt heavy on my neck. But I was still pushing through, I was not about to crash at a frat house.
I was proud of my achievements tonight, I had won my first game of beer pong which was very exciting to me. It was actually not that hard, all it takes is a good aim. Also, I hadn't once thought of my situation at home which made this night all the more better. My feet dragged behind me as I made my way towards the dance floor across the hall. I loved the way moving my body felt, I felt like a noodle.
I got to the crowd of people and started moving my body to the beat. It felt freeing, just being able to dance like nothing else mattered. My body felt wobbly while I swished my hips back and fourth, and closed my eyes. I soon felt a warm body come up behind me, pressing themselves to my back. Having too much fun to think first I started mimicking the other couples. I rubbed myself against the guy in slow movements, putting my hands up behind his neck, as his hands went to my waist. I turned around to face the man and gasped, immediately pulling myself away. "Zack?!"
"Yesh?" Zack replied slurring. Of course he was drunk. He was gonna get a real laugh out of this when he hears what happened in the morning.
"Okay buddy, get your horny butt off of me and go find another girl to dance with," I said laughing as I gave him a playful push. He swayed slightly and made his way to the game room, leaving me alone to dance. I continued to dance alone, enjoying myself.
I've never really been a heavy drinker, this was honestly kind of out of character for me. I just wanted to let go and forget just for one night. I wasn't proud that I turned to alcohol knowing what it did to my mother, but I wasn't going to abuse it the way she does. This is not my way of coping with my rough life.
Shaking those thoughts out of my head, I told myself that I'm not her. I'm not my mother and I'm not going to allow her mistakes to get in the way of my life. I could drink without becoming what she is, my mother is an alcoholic by choice. She could quit if she tried, but she never cared enough to even give it a thought. Tears started to brim my eyes and I decided to go find somewhere to sit down. I wanted to find Zack or Aurora but I didn't want to burden them with my issues and keep them from enjoying themselves. I walked upstairs, the noise from downstairs fading away and made my way into a room occupied with a TV set and a video game system.
