Aiden continued the 10 minute drive to the frat house. I leaned my head against the window and noticed the sky had gotten darker since we were in the restaurant. Suddenly the sky started to pour rain, and a slight wind picked up through the trees. I happily watched the rain fall and the small strikes of lightening flash through the sky. I've always loved the rain, and even a little thunder. It relaxed me.
I look over at Aiden as he drives and smile at myself. He truly is the most handsome guy I've ever laid my eyes on. There's no doubt about that. I look back out the window and blush when Aiden looks over and catches me staring at him. "Like what you see?" He says with a throaty chuckle. I slap him lightly on the shoulder playfully and roll my eyes.
"You're not that bad," I smile. What I said was completely not true, I practically drooled every time I saw him. Aiden brought his hand to his chest and acted as if he was offended at what I said.
"Don't lie to yourself Madeleine, you're loving the view," he said. I acted like I was very interested with what was going on outside the car.
"You're right, the sky looks absolutely beautiful right now," I exaggerated. He just laughed at me as we continued the short journey. We sat in comfortable silence as the rain from outside hit the car, and soaked the earth. I watched the window as the rain drops poured onto it, making small rivers as they hit each other and split down the car. When I was a kid I would always watch the rain drops fall from the sky onto the window, and watch as they rolled down, as if they were racing each other.
Eventually Aiden's frat house came into view as he pulled up and parked in the huge drive way made for all the members. It was still pouring outside and it only seemed to get heavier as the thunder got louder. "How are we going to get inside?" I asked Aiden while I gathered my wallet and phone in my hand. From where we were, we'd have to sprint up the swirly drive way, which was a good distance from the house, and try not to get to wet in the process.
Aiden turned to the back seat and rummaged through the car, looking for what I hope was an umbrella. The rummaging stopped as Aiden turned back to the front and looked at me with a slight nervous glint in his eyes. "I'm sorry but we are gonna have to make a break for it," he said as he pulled the keys out of the ignition. I huffed out a breath and mentally prepared myself for what was to come. "Okay you ready?" Aiden unlocked the car as he put his hand on the handle, as did I.
"Yes, let's do this." Aiden and I quickly pulled our handles and slammed the door closed as we sprinted the distance to his front door. The rain drenched us both from head to toe the second we left the safety of the car. I do admit, I hate when it rains in the colder seasons because once you hit the rain it's like you've been enveloped inside an icicle. As we reached the door the loud bang of thunder echoed through the sky causing a scream to erupt from my throat. I felt like I heard it inside my ears and on instinct my arms wrapped around Aidens bicep as he unlocked the door with his key.
His hand froze when I gripped his arm, and I quickly let go in embarrassment. "Sorry, I got scared." I said as I looked down at my feet, my shoes soaked from running through small puddles.
He looked down at me with a small smile and a gleam in his eyes. "It's okay," He said just as thunder rumbled loudly again. He looked up to the sky and said loudly, "hey! Could you keep it down? We're trying to have a conversation!" After he finished yelling he looked at me with a wide smile from ear to ear, and we both bursted out laughing.
Laughing, Aiden opened the door and let me go through first, following behind me, he closed the door and took off his shoes. "So we are definitely soaked. I'm going to get us a change of clothes," he said as he made his way toward the large stair case by the door. I slipped off my shoes, and followed behind him as we walked towards his room. The house seemed very quiet. It was like we were the only ones here, even though a few cars were parked outside.
