"C'mon Rylee, focus." Cyndel encouraged and he takes another swing, I put my blade up and block his shot. "Great job!" Cyndel is not only a good friend of mine but, he's pratically my brother. Mostly because his parents took me in about 7 years ago when they found out my father went missing, they are close friends of my dad. They brought me to the institute where I live now and raised me as their own. That's around the time when I met my best friend, Desiree Wainright who introduced me to our other friends Tyler, Blane and Rixton. So we all basically grew up together, which was nice. When I was 15 years old they decided to find out my talents, they realized I carried my journal with me that was full of random marking things I drew. None of them were the same and they all had a different power writtem underneath like, invisibility, speed, freezing time and/ or people, and a few others. They told me they were runes so they gave me a stele of my own to help find out what I can do. That's when I kinda learned my talent, all I have to do is draw the first rune that pops into mind during a situation and the magic just kinda happens. Recently I've been working on using weapons such as swords and throwing knives. "Well, I think we can call it a day." he pats my back "you did good."

"Thanks, I try. " we laughed thenwalked towards the exit of the training fecility and put our weapons down and walked out. Desiree hurried over to us and said "Guys, I've been looking for you everywhere!"

"Why?" Cyndel questioned.

"Becaauseee. there is a little party tonight and we're invited." she says.

"Party?" I have only been to one or two parties before. Usually people like us don't really "party".

"Yes!" she continued "Aidrian Walker is throwing a little party for all immortals to come."

"Are you sure this is safe and not some kind of trap?" Cyndel asked.

"I'm sure," she rolled her eyes "you guys don't have to worry, Aidrian is a friend of William." William is the owner of the institution so I guess he wouldn't be friends with Aidrian if he was no good. "Alright, I'll go," I spoke up. Cyndel looked over at me and raised an eyebrow "what?"

"How do you know is isn't a trap or anything?" He tends to have trust issues about certain things.

"Cyndel, William wouldn't be friends or tell Desiree about the invitation if he was no good," I lightly pushed him "relax, live a little."

"Yeah, I guess your right." he nodded

"I am right," he rolled his eyes and chuckled and I did too then turned my attnetion back to Desiree "so what time is the party?"

"It's around 8 o' clock and you actually have to dress up Rylee." Ugh. She KNOWS I hate getting all dressed up for anything. "it's like 6:30 now so we have time to get ready." she took my hand and drug me to her room and we got all fancied up for the party. We looked at the time to see its 7:30 and we decided to go ahead and go. We waited forever till Rixton, Tyler, Cyndel, and Blane walked out and we walked.

"Now guys," she went to all of us and either fixed our clothes or our hair "Alex is gonna be here and I really want to be able to hang out with him this time without any fights breaking out." Yeaah. Last time we went to a party Blane had gotten into a fight with some guy and we ended up having to break it up.

"Hey, he threw the first punch." he put his hands in the air and she rolled her eyes and walked in. When I walked in I could see all the vampires, werewolves, and others dancing like there was no tomorrow.  I guess I was wrong about people like us not up for partying because I saw quiet a few walking around. Tyler, Cyndel, and I aren't really the party type so we just kinda sat down at a booth while Desiree flirted with Alex and Rixton was probably getting drunk. I don't really know what Blane does at parties because he kinda just dissappears in the crowd. Next thing we knew there were about 20  bursting through the door I grabbed the first weapon available. "You see," Cyndel yells "I knew this was a bad idea!" Tons of the people here ran and only a few including me, Desiree, and the guys stayed. I gripped my blade and we broke up into pairs like we were told to do during training. Desiree and I stood back to back, then Tyler and Cyndel, then Blane and Rixton. They demons came charging and I swung at one knocking it's head clean off then stabbing it, turning it to dust. One was coming at me from the side and I ducked it's blow and jabbed it. I could see the boys through the crowd of demons, Blane's spear was knocked clean out his hands and he was thrown back. I put my talent to use and pulled out my stele and put it on my palm then stuffing it back in my boot quickly and I focus on the spear watching it fly right into my hands. "Blane!" I threw him his spear and he got up jabbing a demon in the chest. One demon jumped onto me and knocked me to the ground, it was bitting at me and I was pushing it back the best I could till  finally Desiree noticed and stabbed it. After that all the demons were gone and Desiree and Blane helped me up. "This is why I said it was a bad idea to come." Cyndel said.

"We should just get home, before any more of them show up."  Rixton stated. We all walked out the door and walked back to the institute. "I thought Aidrian kept his parties well gaurded, that didn't seem so "well gaurded." Rixton said.

"He usually does, it's kinda weird..." I said.

"Tell me about it," we walked through the institution doors "well, we all need some rest, night." Blane said. We nodded and walked to our rooms, I closed my bedroom door behind me and layed down on the bed. I picked up a picture of my mom that was on my night stand and looked at it for a moment, smiling to myself, then put it back and put my head on the pillow. "I miss you mom." I sighed then closed my eyes and slowly fell asleep.
